I know we have had some discussion already in the general threads, but which ones do you listen to regularly?

I’ve been forced to listen to them all at some point because the Race Chaser feed loves to do that (except Sloppy Seconds maybe)

it makes me appreciate that Alaska and Willam (and Dipper) are decent hosts, the other ones just seem rambly and uninteresting. Especially I don’t see why Shea’s one is going to have 2 episodes a week with the same guest (or how he can carry it as a host)

Race Chaser drag race episodes only.

I tried the top model one and didn’t think Shae was that good of a host, I’m sure she will get better but with 2 episodes a week it’s a pass. Sloppy Seconds seems fun but not very essential. The other two were quite bad.

Yeah I don’t know if Nicole Byer was a good choice as a guest, is there a podcast she hasn’t been on yet? She just talked while Shea was a bit passive.

Raja & Delta talking about what the kids these days don’t get, hard pass! Delta has a lot of problems with a lot of things, and Raja wants to be an easygoing high goddess but she also has a lot of things she doesn’t like.

I’m just rewatching Season 3 of Drag Race and I’m not liking Raja as much as I thought, and Delta is most busted than I remembered!

Only Race Chaser drag race here. Most of the time I enjoy it a lot, especially race chaser CLASSIQUE. Big Dipper is a joy, I love his bearish voice and cackle and wish they’d interact more with him.

I’ve mentioned it several times before but I’ve tried to like The Chop but just couldn’t. Latrice and Manilla are surprisingly stupid and boring, they need a third host to improve the dialogue. It sucks that Alaska and Willam didn’t get to cover UKS2.

Didn’t know Shea had a podcast. What is it about?

As for the rest; no thanks. I prefer drag queens commenting drag race, outside that context very few of them are interesting, especially not when it comes to politics.

shea’s is about ANTM, but it’s not a recap show, just a free-form blah-de-blah “Ki-ki” about the show and anything else that pops into their heads

I was thinking recently that I’m coming back around to Hot Goss, they seem to have found a decent balance and a bit more aware of the limits of their political segment.

Willam has this awful habit when they’re doing a serious interview to suddenly heel-turn into a fun question. Just the way he does it feels like he doesn’t acknowledge any of the serious stuff and he’s just bored

Oh they've launched another one! Hi Jinkx with Jinkx Monsoon.
Now this I AM interested in, Jinkx really is one of my all-time favourites, possibly more than Alaska, I enjoyed the first episode

Just race chaser, and even that has fallen off for me. They just recap the episodes now, and when you've listened to Bob disecting each part it's a little bland.

I'll catch up when they start Classique S6.

Oooh. And the first guest is Joel Kim Booster who was great in that drag podcast with Nicole Byer before they both left and Mano took over and it fell apart.

Just to confirm that Hi Jinkx is GREAT and she's probably the best RPDR podcast host I've heard (based on one episode).

Did Nicole properly leave? I know she did that dodgy episode with Eliott but didn't see any announcements afterwards

Oh I meant early on. It was What the Tuck with Joel and Nicole (although they were always having guests because both were too busy), and it was brilliant, but the episodes have all been removed. Then Mano and one of the Las Culturistas guys took over, and it went downhill a bit I think, and then it was just Mano and became Drag Her.

I think Nicole eventually came back but I'd given up by then.

Oh this poll didn’t age well, I didn’t think they would launch (at least) THREE podcasts in the space of a month.

So now it’s “Famous this week” with Priyanka and Brooke Lynn Hytes, filling that gap in the market for podcasts full of hot takes about pop culture

:Lundvik:

I tried with Pageant Pod yesterday, Alaska & Willam's limited series deep dive into the pageant world. I won't be going back to the second episode. The soundbites from the special guests were infuriating - often only a sentence or two, and often they felt rammed in for no real purpose.

I still love both hosts on Race Chaser but gave up on Hot Goss some time ago, and I'm not convinced they will work outside of discussing RPDR, at least together.

Hot Goss has gotten a bit better recently, actually this week was just Willam and Courtney, it was quite fun. Having guests really helps I think, except when Willam can’t think of anything to smart to say about a deep and serious topic and just asks a totally unrelated and unimportant question, sounds like he doesn’t care at all.

How are we getting in with Jinkx?

despite always enjoying Jinkx, I’m finding this a bit stale, they usually talk about the same topics and the guests all seem to be comedians I’ve never heard of (who aren’t that funny in interview)

how many times do I need to hear Pete Davidson is her crush (especially as she asserts her crushes change all the time)

I did the Bianca Del Rio episode of Hi Jinkx and loved it, so went for the Natasia Demetriou one after, and found it little more than mildly diverting. I'm checking who she has on, but don't think I'll bother unless it's someone I actively want to listen to.

that’s probably wise
I wasn’t that into the Bianca one, I feel like the more I hear her soapbox the less I like her. Yes cancel culture, yeah new queens don’t know the struggle yeah 🥱

I liked the Joel Kim Booster and Bianca episodes. I've listened to a few of the others but don't know anyone so it's just been background listening.

The second episode of the pageant pod was a lot better. It’s just 3 interviews (some repetition from the previous episode but it’s minimal) and it’s quite fun.

yeah it wasn’t bad, thought they used that xylophone transition sound TOO MUCH!

New Hi Jinkx episode appears:
“Jinkx is joined by comedian—“

general election uk GIF by BBC

Jinkx (and Major Scales) was a guest on Stuart Goldsmith's The Comedian's Comedian podcast in 2016. A long show where she initially was a little prickly.

There are nearly 400 episodes now with some great guests. It can all get a little navel gazing about comedy, but apart from adoring Jinkx it was quite interesting to hear her being interviewed from the perspective of a straight male comedian, albeit a very woke one. She's episode 173, if anyone is inclined to investigate.

Has anyone listened to Hi Jinkx with Diego Sans yet? Just wondering if his alleged transphobia is addressed.

I find it hard to think Jinkx didn't know about it, so that's disappointing.

He's also the one who fucked Milk's dirty arse.

I’d been getting a bit weary of Willam recently for no particular reason I can think of, so I thought Ooh when Bob covered for her on Race Chaser.

well until I remembered that Bob isn’t really that fun in a subjective commentary situation, it’s like improv, except Bob is always NO AND

it’s just a bit tiring that he’s determined to win every opinion

I loved Bob! It made me realise how little Alaska and Willam actually have to say opinions-wise though. Bob asking Alaska to actually comment on something was funny.

I’d say that’s true for Alaska but Willam is pretty opinionated! I’d say the difference between him and Bob is that Willam will just steamroller his opinion in at random and lose interest in anyone else’s, while Bob will ask someone for theirs and immediately answer first :D both are quite tiring

I do laugh a bit at Alaska desperately trying not to get on the wrong side of anyone, while Willam and Bob are just bulls in China shops :D

I think that's it; Willam has an opinion in certain things but otherwise just sounds bored. And sometimes it does feel like she's barely actually watched.

Whereas Bob sounds like he watches, rewatches and takes notes. Monet on the other hand was a bit of a chore. She just spend every episode of Sibling Watchery trying to prove Bob wrong even though usually it was the opposite.

yeah I didn’t get into Sibling Rivalry, I get that they love each other and this is their thing, but their constant trolling each other isn’t very entertaining for me personally. If I want to experience unimportant bad-faith arguments, I’ve got the whole internet to read

I thought Bob was great in this episode. The way he keeps questioning Alaska was entertaining, because as mentioned above Alaska is always a bit too diplomatic.

Oh god come back Willam :D Hot Goss being co-hosted by everyone’s outer saboteur Delta Work was not the one.

so loooong too
Does she ever have anything positive to say about anything? Is she like this on Very That every week? No thank you ma’am

Well after much tossing and turning I finally ditched Hi Jinkx, it just doesn’t really work for me. She tries to stick to an interview format but spends most of it talking about herself, and the guests are usually comedians or queer actors I’ve never heard of, so the topics get samey.

the decider was hearing that she’s got a Futurama recap podcast with Kamikaze from Cool Mom, so I can still enjoy Jinkx in a slightly more targeted way (for me)

Assuming this poll is accurate, MoM doesn’t seem to be snagging Moopy :o

I guess I’m down to Race Chaser and Hot Goss (wishing I could unsubscribe from the latter)

I've given up on listening to Race Chaser weekly, I just wait until there's a backlog of a Classique season for me to dip into whenever I remember. As has probably been mentioned ad nauseum already, the episodes for currently-airing seasons tend not to be that interesting and more like recaps, which I don't need.

I gave up Race Chaser for All Stars 6. Must remember to pick it up again.

I've only heard two or three episodes of Hi Jinkx and yes, it is so samey that I think you really are going to need to be a fan of the guest to get anything out of it.

I will say, the ones with other Drag Queens were quite good, Jinkx felt looser. She’s had Monet and Bob (separately thank god) and Peaches Christ was good too.

mind you by coincidence I’d just heard Peaches guesting on Matt Baum’s lovely Sewers of Paris (on an old Ep), and it made me wonder why I wasn’t subscribing to that instead.

I don’t recommend Bianca’s Ep on Jinkx though, unless you want an hour of “You see what young queens these days don’t get is…”
