Tori Amos - Ocean To Ocean

True but for most that was the result of the dying out of proper singles campaigns with b sides. I agree in general yet I’m also greedy and want everything.
I think in many cases (not Tori) it was also a case of LET’S INCLUDE AS MANY SONGS AS POSSIBLE AND MAKE MONEY FOR OUR FRIENDS AND PEOPLE THE RECORD COMPANY WANT US TO FAVOUR

As a special treat to self (:side-eye:) I’m going to investigate the Tori albums with which I’m not very familiar in the coming days with the assistance of my nice Sony headphones. This may not increase my appreciation of that flat and boring drum sound which I’ve noticed during my brief rendezvous with recent albums but it’s all in the name of FAIR ASSESSMENT :disco:

I mean it brings me no joy to NOT like them as Tori is fundamentally :disco: incarnate and FAR MORE THAN WE COULD EVER HOPE FOR

And I do so hate this NOT LIKING THINGS FOR THE SAKE OF IT routine

Ends up jumping from Give (no drum complaints THERE) on AATS to Juarez :disco:

The first two songs on AATS are actually REALLY QUITE GOOD. @jivafox does it go downhill? I ask you as a fellow member of Équipe Madame and therefore a master of discernment :disco:

Also - not that I especially wish to justify it - I recall @jivafox expressing reservations about AATS in the past, HENCE

Well YOU put Little Earthquakes in EIGHTH so CASE CLOSED
I was braced for CONTROVERSY with that decision. I love it and who can deny Precious Things but I don't see it as her peak, as a whole, partly because of the production which I find to be muddy (improved in the remasters, though). Obviously it was necessary to get to where she went, though.

Anyway, come talk to me when you've listened to Scarlet

Yes I'm definitely an AATS apologist. Some of it is dire but I don't really understand why most find it SO appalling. She has worse!
I’m finding the jumps between live and programmed drums on AATS really irritating. Stick with one or the other!

I MIGHT :)

Unfortunately listening to these albums confirms what I’d suspected would be the case: that most of the latter day songs are about nothing in particular (emotionally speaking) and therefore don’t particularly resonate. I mean it’s not nice to wish awful and upsetting life experiences upon our favourites but nobody can deny that they make for more interesting material

I read somewhere Speaking With Trees is coming on the 29th but I’m not taking responsibility if this is incorrect information.
