Kylie - Disco (album 15)

Am I misremembering or were there some nice tweets back and forth between Kylie and Gloria Gaynor when the standard album came out? It would be nice if that's where this collaboration came from.
You're correct

ALLURE: What did you think when Gloria Gaynor wrote to you on Twitter, saying thanks for "Keeping disco alive"?

KM: [Gasps.] I know! Can you believe that? I was like [gasps] Gloria! It's just incredible. We will forever be singing "I Will Survive" forever and ever and all the generations to come. There are certain disco songs that you can't even touch. They are untouchable. That was like being anointed by one of the absolute queens of disco.

That 3CD/DVD/Blu-Ray is showing as limited. I wonder HOW limited?

Bloody hell making the extended mixes vinyl only. That's probably the best release here (providing they are properly done).

The suggested reason it’s to be nearer her family in her free time who are all there including her ageing parents is far more plausible than Brexit though I’m sure that sealed the decision.

Have ordered the bundle with the 2 vinyl sets, the deluxe CD/DVD and the cd single. Will definitely end up flogging the latter and I’d have thought the three copies of the original album I have (two still sealed) will more than pay for this!

Amazon makes no mention of it being limited. Don't know if that's significant or not.

I'm inclined to think not very limited, but I seem to recall there was a Golden boxset which turned out to be limited and fetches a good price now.

I have that. I thought it was a load of old tat. Might flog it and get the normal vinyl…

The Kylie store exclusive cover Golden Live was a great scam- I sold that for £100 at some point.

Are any of the vinyls worth anything? I ought to shift the two I have (the glow in the dark and one of the others, I forget which), as I'm resenting the space they take up.

Yes they are. I’ve got the glow in the dark which is opened and the other two are copies of the blue marvelled one- I complained that I’d got a warped copy and they sent me two replacements accidentally. They’re going for £80-£100 last time I looked. I’ve held onto them to see whether they or glow in the dark eventually becomes the most £££ and I was just going to keep one. But they can all go with this as the replacement.

That surprises me - I was thinking I'd be happy to break even.

A Disco slipmat and box for an ADDITIONAL £20? Bargain! :bruised:

Just checked. Depends on the edition. Glow in the Dark is going for £20 but the marbled blue is going for £50 right now- and as I said, both have been higher.

There are plenty of glow in the dark at £35+ on eBay. Marbled on at £60 buy it now.

Perhaps the best news of all, Kiss Of Life is produced by the What's Your Pleasure team! :disco::disco::disco::disco:

One presumes they won’t be as valuable post- deluxe edition, at least for a bit. I know my Jessie Ware vinyls crashed when The Platinum Edition came out.

I was thinking more “most amounts of pointless formats released”, but then Steps might have usurped that…

I've just gone for the 3CD/DVD/BluRay set from amazon. And that's it. Definitely.

I am glad that the Disco bonus tracks are now officially on the main album. Till You Love Somebody FTW.

Minor gripe but I wish on disc 2 they’d interspersed the three Say Something mixes with the other remixes or if they wanted three in a row put them at the end. It’ll put me off playing that disc as much.

Not to build up hype or owt:

The Jesse Ware collab is on another level to anything she’s released from Disco era so far, it’s 70’s disco with chunky beats with breathy vocals only Kylie nails, soaring with euphoric highs, it’s also more uptempo than we’ve had so far too….I really wish this was the first single…..I can only think that it’s not because it was recorded way after Second to Midnight.

I guess the Jessie track will get a push of some kind on album release week. maybe smarter to hold it back for when the promo is in full force.

I was a bit snobbish about Disco when it was first released, comparing it rather unfavourably with What's Your Pleasure, but - in hindsight - it gave us a handful of modern-day Kylie gems. I feel much more positive about it these days. And topping off with a Jessie Ware collab is just... *ugh* *twirls*
