So why is it just "Scream"? And 2022?! I'm sure that's all normal but just sounds a long time for something that's done and dusted, even though it probably isn't.

I don’t know why they’re calling it Scream when they’ve said it’s a continuation, not a reboot or a remake. Confusing.

Scream 4 is my third favourite. There were a ton of good scenes but the uncertain fate of Kirby and its unwillingness to go all in on a horror trend (Is it a remake? Is it found footage?) sort of dampened it a bit. Also, I just wish they'd have killed one of the big three.

I think I put Scream 2 and 4 equal third, and 4 really would walk away with it if not for the pacing and tone issues, it's like it's never sure, maybe due to its legacy and when it was released what to actually BE. A lot of pressure involved no doubt but they mostly pulled it off and the whole film feels like a Scream film overall. There are some AMAZING moments and that excitement of seeing them all back together was everything.

2 is let down by the ending but has some of the scariest scenes in the series.

3, well it had Courtney's fringe I suppose

They're calling it Scream because they saw how well it worked for Halloween (2018). Hopefully this will be more successful in terms of box office than Scream 4. I love all of them dearly, including the Scooby-Doo live action film that is Scream 3. They can kill off Dewey as far as I'm concerned, but not QoLs Sidney and Gale.

The Scream Reunion zoom I was on the other day didn’t give any spoilers as such but there was something Kevin Williamson said which the fans latched on to and it now has me worried.

Halloween did so probably influenced by that in terms of generating interest/cash

Also hopefully it means a return to Sidney being the MAIN HORROR GIRL of the show and a new story around that. Although what story is another question but I'm sure they'll cobble together some delicious nonsense :disco:

Dewey does need to die. I mean, this franchise can afford it, they've got THREE to play with and one has bumbled on enough! Starting the movie with his death would create a sense of melodrama and tension it absolutely needs to kickstart the new era, if it is an era. The stakes would feel higher with one of the untouchable three DEAD.

But agreed, leave it at that with Sidney and Gail living forever.

3 also had the ‘the one who smells the gas’ death which requires such a ludicrous amount of contrivance and coincidence for it to actually happen the way it does. And even then, it’s still stupid since ‘the one who smells the gas’ is supposed to be the one who survives according to the fax.

Absolutely, that would be a great opening. Should have been done in Scream 3, who cares about Kelly Rutherford really!

But 3 has Carrie Fisher, who makes up for it!

I think the lady deputy is getting the pre-credits treatment. I’d love them to bring back the shit detective from 3 just to kill him off. I’m happy for Sid’s Dad and Joel from no. 2 to be survivors but the detective just deserves to die for being shit at his job.

If I remember correctly, 4 had a lot of script problems where the Weinsteins brought in the scream 3 writer to do their changes. Lauren Graham was cast at one point.

I think the idea is if movie theaters open in March/April there will be a glut of already ready movies and they’ll get swallowed in the rush. The last one didn’t do so well.

Yes, it was supposed to end on a cliffhanger. Since it didn't do too well I doubt we'd have gotten part 5 back then, so I'm glad they rewrote that. Lauren Graham was going to play Emma Robert's mother, but dropped out - who can blame her, it was such a nothing role. Mary McDonnell in that role acts as if she's in a completely different film compared to the rest of the cast though, so there's that at least...

The poster has been revealed. Simple but effective - reminds me a lot of the Halloween 6 poster.

Funny how there's no mention of the "rules" like the posters of all the other ones. I wonder if they'll skip the meta stuff this time around and just play it as a straight horror film?

I don't want to watch it, I want to see it unspoilt in January. I'm planning to see Halloween Kills this weekend though, so I'll probably have to sit through it with my eyes closed.

Courtney looking so dead behind the eyes like she’s just filmed her death scene :disco:

Seeing the original at the cinema tonight :disco:

I’ve still never seen Scream 3.
I’ve warmed to Scream 3 SLIGHTLY since I found out Sarah Darling was the nickname everyone used for Sarah Michelle Gellar because she was so difficult during the filming of Scream 2, and the entire character by that name in Scream 3 is based on her.

It’s still a fucking dire film, though.

I can’t wait for the trailer! Where is it?! I don’t speak Spanish.

I doubt this is true though. It sounds like something someone made up and posted it on a message board somewhere, from where it was copied and pasted to the IMDB trivia section or wherever. Ehren Kruger wrote the script for part 3, he wasn't even around when part 2 was filmed.

I love ALL 4 Scream films

I'd say

Scream 2
Scream
Scream 4
Scream 3

But I love the ridiculousness of the third movie with the parody of Hollywood. Plus it has Parker Posey. That ALONE is worth loving.

It's worth it for Parker Posey and the Carrie Fisher cameo alone. Posey's lines readings are so much fun. It's more of a dumb Scooby-Doo mystery, but I like it better than 4, which drags quite a bit.
4 could have been a lot better if they had used some of the alternative scenes. Someone posted an extended fan-edited version on YouTube and it's way better than what we got.

3 also kind of addresses the whole me-too idea long before it was a thing, which is interesting if you consider that it was produced by the Weinsteins of all people.
I listened to a podcast about it recently and they remarked that Sidney's mom is slut-shamed throughout the series, which is actually true if you think about it.

I'm not BIG into Scream WIKIA but I distinctly remember SMG saying in a documentary she signed up for Scream 2 without having even seen the script because she loved the first one and wanted to work with Wes Craven. Doesn't sound like the kind of person who would KICK UP A FUSS but who knows.

My ranking is
Scream
Scream 2
Scream 3
Scream 4

But for me the first two are 11/10 and the other two are 9/10, so I'm a stan no matter what!

I hope Five Cream will be as good as 2 :disco:

Omg it’s here and I’m hyped and it looks so good!

Looks ok…I didn’t recognize anyone apart from the core 3

I'm in.

but... January? why isn't this out at Halloween?!
