The War on Drugs - I Don't Live Here Anymore (new album 29 October)

Actually @funky some of their stuff might be what you were looking for the other day in the country/Americana thread. They aren’t country but maybe the vibe is similar

Funnily enough I discovered that song last week and I love it.

I'm here for this. I wasn't expecting them to go down the 80s route but I don't mind it. The singles are not quite hitting the mark of anything from the last album though.

I think the chances of another 11 minute epic are quite slim though. :(

I absolutely love I Don't Live Here Anymore with Lucius. Looking forward to the album, and I am definitely not opposed to a more commercial, tighter sound.

i don't live here anymore is song of the year material.
majestic. bleak. iconic. just keeps getting better and better.

album finally out friday i think. new track change.

ps thinking of a place remains one of the greatest songs ever.

pps his voice is so bryan adams at times. and i love it.

It's currently my favourite song in. the. world.

Might yet break my Gorgon City/Jungle/Sam Fender top 3 of the year. Where have they been all my life? And why has nobody recommended them before?

Has anyone explored the album yet?

It covers a lot of 80s genres, and on first listen I'm loving it. "Victim" is standing out as an early highlight. Apart from the glorious title track obviously, which is my favourite song in the world right now.

Ooh just got to the end and Occasional Rain is also standout gorgeous. Really Tom Petty / Ryan Adams vibes.

I gave most of it a listen yesterday morning, though didn't have time to get through all of it. Victim was the one that stood out for me as well, that whole middle section seemed very strong.

It’s also giving me Paper Kites vibes, @krang ?

(Hate calling you that by the way)

you can call me anything you like, funks!

i'm afraid i haven't listened to the album properly yet. it all blended into a depressive dreamy haze that first time a couple of days ago, i need to dive in properly but victim is the one that i remember checking the name of. guess it's a hit!

i have to admit i've been finding full albums harder and harder and get into properly like before...

Disregard this.

I love the album and it’s definitely going to be part of my winter playlist.

loving this album. we don't talk about death enough.

victim should be the next "single" but i am also quite partial to i don't wanna wait and the low-isms in the production.

there was a tiny desk concert recently, new tracks. i don't live here anymore is stripped down and it really highlights the impact of lucius on the original.

I don’t want to live here anymore has been my favourite song in the world for about a month now. Just epic.

The album still growing on me. Nothing comes close but there’s about 5 tracks so far that have made it onto my playlist
