Björk says new album is for people “making clubs in their living room”

"In this new album, there’s a lot of chill in the first half of the song, but when there’s one minute left the song turns into a club".

Not too much to go on so far but I see the innernet is preparing for the next Post. I'd just be happy if there are no FLUTES on it.

Warmth.

she described it as being like “a man who was headbanging, then sat down again and had another glass of red wine, and everyone is home by 10 o’clock, done with the dancing and everything

I want a whole album of 'There's More To Life Than This' Recorded Live At the Milk Bar Toilets thank you please.
.

I’m going to suspend hope on this occasion and rely on fellow loungers to advise whether she’s still up to her grotty split syllable antics

Every single album she's got further and further from concepts like melody, but she does like these bold changes in direction from album to album so I always hold out hope that her tastes and mine will intersect once more.

Even One Little Indian / Independent must be sick of sitting through yet another album of UNMELODY at the LISTENING PARTY. I think they should start giving her LOOKS rather than saying THANKS BO SOUNDS SUPER

Would it kill this bitch to come up with a decent chorus this time?
I think she likes to think of herself as MODERN AVANT GARDE CLASSICAL :)

MODERN UNLISTENABLE MORE LIKE LUV

Sorry but VULNICURA was plenty melodic and it was heartbreaking.

'Black Lake' ugh :(
UGH INDEED

It was like someone splaying their cranny in Iceland (the shop NOT country) and openly blubbing in strangers’ faces about their marriage collapsing. NOT TO MY TASTE I’M AFRAID

I’m hoping the new albam will all be in Spanish (or Esperanto) with hot flamenco sounds and a sizzling Baccara influence :disco:

I fell off the Bjork wagon after Vespertine. She tricked me back with Volta as I loved Earth Intruders but that album was a disappointment. However, I do like the talk she’s talking about this album so I’m interested.

She could give us the long-awaited Black Lake/Black Lace synergy by covering Agadoo :disco:

Wasn’t that last albam - whatever it was - supposed to be her TINDER ALBAM? I imagine it was the soundtrack to many a sexy slamming party with everyone coming up on acid while the house burnt down :disco:

As long as it’s the original and superior Saragossa Band version and she does it in BEACHWEAR :disco:

Has she ever done a covers album? That could be fun whilst almost certainly not being fun AT ALL

I nominate (I’ll Never Be) Maria Magdalena :disco:

Drop the jazz album, Queen!

I’m starting to feel just a little abused, like a coffee machine in an office, by her post-…Medulla output?

I mean that’s getting on for 20 years now, you have to wonder if it’s time to just stop waiting

And I didn’t get what everyone was loving about Vulnicura either.

The only one I haven’t gotten around to is the one before it, is that the slug genitalia one?

Vulnicura did at least stoke the embers - there was some proper flair to the album but the tracks mostly wanged on a bit too long.

There's a narrative that she made her money during the CD boom of the 90s and has spent the remainder of her career doing whatever the hell she pleases. Fun for her, bit painful at times for us. At least she spared us the drums/voice duets album.

:D at this thread. I feel like I've typed this already several times in other Björk threads, but I personally have no issue with her current direction at all :D
Vulnicura and Utopia are two of her strongest albums for me, and I think they contain some of the best songs in her entire canon.

The run from 'Stonemilker' to 'Notget' on Vulnicura is just a CAREER PEAK for me, and ultimately the main bulk of the album. The other three tracks are fine but feel a bit tacked on and not from the same sessions. The VR video where your eyes got to go inside Björk's MOUTH whilst 'Mouth Mantra' blasted in your ears was the epitome of :disco: HOWEVER!

I love so many songs on Utopia. 'The Gate' song AND video is another career peak for me. It's BEAUTIFUL, and sounds unlike any other artist on the planet.
Similar appreciation for 'Losss', 'Sue Me' and 'Arisen My Senses' as the album bangers, and 'Saint' and 'Future Forever' which are just HEAVENLY to me. Future Forever could have been on Vespertine.
Utopia may have been a bit more palatable had she taken out 'Features Creatures', 'Body Memory' and maybe 'Tabula Rosa' from the tracklist. I like ALL THREE songs personally, but I could understand how they might add an unnecessary 20ish minutes to the runtime for the non-loons.

Anyway, excited for whatever she brings :disco: I'd be quite up for Björk goes SCHLAGER! :disco:

Although I imagine each song will be 4 minutes of NOODLING electronics and vocals followed by an ear splitting and abrasive D&B breakdown.

Vulnicura was incredible, Black Lake is God Tier Björk, but I struggled with Utopia as it just sounded like the same song for 1 hour. I’ve TRIED several times with the album, but honestly I’d sooner listen to VOLTA!
No lies detected.

I even went to the (fabulous) live show to help me get into the album and I just couldn't. :(

Future Forever and Saint are both SO BEAUTIFUL, but I think get overlooked a bit by being plopped at the end of the album.
Worth a listen in isolation if you did want a keeper or TWO from Utopia

By all means excuse me if this post feels like I'm thrusting Utopia at you rather AGGRESSIVELY! :hostage:
