Well that was odd. Maybe I'm naive but they seemed distressed

Did anybody else have this when they got Covid? My loss of taste and smell was mercifully short-lived, coming back on the whole after about 48 hours.

Now however certain tastes have suddenly become absolutely revolting - toothpaste is the main one. I can’t compare it to the taste of anything else but brushing my teeth makes me gag as the taste has suddenly become intensely unpleasant!

Never had covid that I know of, but had exactly that when I caught either the flu or a bad cold as a child. Even chocolate tasted revolting, sort of like vomit? It sucked.

Oh wtf I'm seriously done with it all now anyway. The sooner I get Covid and die the better anyway. Everything is born to die anyway, and nobody cares about animals dying, they're no less important than we are. Who wants to live forever anyway, it's a shit life and a shit world.

Omg just Breathe!

No wonder you can’t wear a mask if you hyperventilate like that

And many smells that were pleasant before, those few days felt like they stank.

if masks are made mandatory again, fine by me. people are nasty with their coughing, even if it isn't corona related

A neighbour of mine, who is an intelligent 30 year old, who's got a job high up in IT and is not a typical anti-vaxxer stereotype (he's very liberal minded and pro EU) has not had the vaccine. His g/f is a primary school teacher and she literally begs him daily to have the vaccine, but he point blank refuses. His reasoning is unfathomable in that he says he "hasn't caught it yet so why bother with the risk of a vaccine" and his logic is because both me and my other half have been double jabbed and still caught Covid (albeit relatively mildly) he thinks NOT being jabbed is safer. Im truly AGOG at this and just cant even deal with it. I like him but I just avoid him now because just looking at his face now makes me angry :D

Contrarianism as lifestyle. Fuckwits, the lot of them.
I’ve seen some people on social media who all year have been going on about knowing nobody with serious Covid, ignoring the replies from people saying they do know people who have died or suffered greatly. NOW one of them is claiming to know a close family friend who died 30 minutes after receiving their second vaccine dose. Even if true, that’s still a lower percentage than the actual Covid cases/deaths.

I suppose some people just don’t register incidents unless it directly affects them.

The only person I know to have outwardly stated not getting the vaccine is a friend who got stuck in India at the start of the pandemic and has been living a hippy/yoga/spiritual thing there ever since. When she posted about it on social media - to her credit, with a well reasoned (but factually incorrect) essay - she got rounded on by most.

Well, I've met a few dickhead gammon down the pub, but they don't count.

My idiot friend works in IT as well, and seems to think because he calls himself a "data scientist" that he knows better than actual scientists. His Twitter is mostly a gif of Dr Evil going ""scientists"" and one that says "more shots, more yachts"

He's also a climate change denier so there you go

Thankfully he keeps his nonsense to Twitter and not real life

I know a guy who's been very vocally against getting the jab. Caught covid, spent 2 weeks very ill, thought he was getting better and is now in an induced coma on a ventilator and is touch and go.

  • Wow
Reactions: COB
My brother refuses to get the jabs. He says that they "alter your DNA" but wouldn't/couldn't elaborate on how. My sister, his twin, tried to explain how the vaccines actually worked but he wasn't interested in listening so we all shut up before it became an argument. I imagine he believes the lizard overlords are going to activate the dormant genes they've infected us with and turn us into slaves to build pyramids or soylent green us or something. He is also in IT.

I know how you feel Floppet, it's really difficult when people you love and care about don't want to do it.
Sometimes I wish it was mandatory and then I feel guilty for thinking it, in the sense that perhaps it's too authoritarian in principle, and then I feel guilty for questioning why I felt guilty about it since mandatory vaccinations have always been happening. I don't know, it's a very awkward mess.

We had a licensed driver this week reported by a passenger for “racial hatred”. He was an Asian driver who answered the passenger’s question confirming he had been vaccinated. He went on to say that in his area, there had been a scheme trying to encourage people in his own community to take up the vaccine and he agreed with it. That apparently made him a racist :manson:

Sorry, am I understanding this correctly - a passenger asked the driver whether he was vaccinated, he said yes because he had seen a programme trying to encourage Asian people to do it in his area and THEN he was reported for racial hatred? What? I feel like we're missing something here?

I had someone the other day walk out of the shop saying 'all these people WEARING masks are making me uncomfortable '

You just can't win!

That’s exactly it! Needless to say I laughed and dismissed it.
