Old TOTP (BBC4) (3 Viewers)

Not Michelle's Paula Abdul intro being thrown off by a NURDING AMBUSH

Paula's suburban housewife does dress up routine hasn't aged well but the song is still a tune.

"Lenny" wasn't the best Supergrass tune. Amazing that Gaz Coombs is 19 here - he's so hairy, you'd never think it.

Scatman John. One of those more charming novelties of the decade. You might struggle with it now...I;d worry about googling "Scatman" these days.

Who the hell were "Blessid Union of Souls"? I have no recollection of this at all?

Billie Ray Martin flatter than a burst balloon. The arty "dancing" behind her isn't giving much either.

McAlmont & Butler's "Yes" - absolute classic. Really has endured too.

Impressive how out of place Bernard Butler looks on stage, even when it's his own record. He looks like he's a week late to play with Shed Seven.

This Elton John song is absolute drivel. Like even by 90s Elton standards, it's drivel.

Bloody marvellous. Love that Pulp all look as if they could be in different bands and yet couldn't possibly be in any other band.

Ah, the days when telly could make a hit - Robson and Jerome's hideously flimsy Unchained Melody. Pish. Bring back Jimmy Nail.

The absolute shade of not giving Lee & Herring an indie-heavy episode.

I've said it before, I'll say it again - Bon Jovi are the worst band every to have bled this planet of its money. Irredeemable in every respect.

I;d forgotten that Richard herring had got a sneaky "you wanker" onto TOTP...Bernard Butler still slinging his guitar around like he's trying to annoy the person he's borrowed it from too.

Oh no, we're in the couple of years where we'll have Reef every so often. I'd rather have my arse cleaned with Cliff Richard's old Brillo pads than hear a whole Reef album.

This must be the tail end of Therapy? chart career. This was one of their more interesting singles but Andy Cairns looks absolute exhausted.

That's right, just cut off Fake Plastic Trees just when it was hitting its climax.

Radiohead really did creep up (ho ho) on everyone's blind side. This single actually climbed in its second week, which was almost unheard of for guitar bands at the time and The Bends just kept ticking over until everyone suddenly seemed to realise how great they were.

"Reverend Black Grape" sounds pretty decent but it is ultimately a cleaner, less unruly Happy Mondays.

Tonight’s first episode may be the worst I’ve seen since we hit 1995. Duran Duran doing White Lines, a double-length late stage Ramones performance and MENSWEAR? :gross:

Second ep starting more promisingly courtesy of Diana King’s Shy Guy :disco:

Quite enjoyed Menswear myself. And Edwyn again 😍

Who tf was Wendy Lloyd - don't remember her AT ALL!

According to her twitter, she's a voiceover artist and voice of Great British Menu (I'd know her from that for a few years at least), and she presented TOTP twice.

I wanted to skip through Jackson, but Mr L refuses to skip anything.

Repulsive on pretty much every level.
