Hi
I joined Moopy for the Enya threads mainly, but also like the occasional others, somewhat related to nature
, music
, random news, or things on the telly.
I'm a slightly odd one perhaps
but with good intentions
I have a 2:1 BSc (biomed) degree!
but no idea when or where I am progressing to next (besides studying medicine or cardiac science, late 2025 or 2026). I shall follow my heart
Oh also I am currently a moderator of r/Enya, the main subreddit, 1.7K members!
At least I've the chance to witness some new Enya album events by next autumn (hopefully)!
Also thanks Moopy, on 17th September 2023 (those who joined my Spotify guessing thread) and 14th March 2024 (those who responded to my dissertation survey) and all 42 votes on my first entry to A Song for Moopy!
Enya isn't some 'new-age fairy', more like a quietly rebellious music genius.
I've only
really known about Enya for just under 4 years, but probably heard her first (Orinoco Flow) on the CBeebies show
Space Pirates in 2008 or so.
My favourite song by Enya so far is Only Time
perhaps so because of the wonderful nostalgic sound of the song,
and the music video.
My 'obscure favourites' by Enya are
Dreams, and
On Your Shore, which is where some of my 'signature' quote is taken from.
Listening to music - the radio sometimes, on TV, even the NOW music channels when I remember the number
but I mostly listen through YouTube, Spotify and downloaded mp3s
)
Vinyls seem expensive, but interesting - CDs are best sound quality overall though.
I have 3 Enya CDs (The Very Best of Enya,
Enya and Watermark)
I do like 'older' music (70s-80s, a few before that), but nostalgic for lots from the late 80s and late 90s. I was around for most of the 2000s and early 2010s. The odd few songs released today might be okay, but there's not much that I'd stick with. I've often liked orchestral/soundtrack music
Indifferent to most other "New-Age" though - Enya herself even said 'it's thin air', and her music's far more than that.
My own 'vibe' fits with Enya music - also reggae, Bob Marley - a lazy, peaceful approach, but individually strong when needs be

(Mostly Enya, and thank you for watching/listening to any of my uploads!
)
I listen to Enya frequently of course - also like analysing the songs, playing them backwards, finding hidden meanings, etc..
There are so many great artists that I discover and like the music of, but I'm genuinely intrigued by and can relate to this lady, and her music. โก
Enya's music getting appreciation worldwide, across different generations and backgrounds is really wonderful. Her career in music is truly inspirational - subtly going far beyond the norm, polite yet quietly rebellious -
that's what I admire most about Enya
and the music she writes.
Many great hopes for 2025!
