Kelly Clarkson - Kellyoke (Covers EP)

She really should just release studio versions of all the songs she performs on her chat show tbh.

Ok I am sold on Queen of the Night and Fake Plastic Trees (well I have hopes for them). I don't know the others.

OK I hate to say it but I fear this cover of Happier Than Ever may actually leave the original in the dust.

I was watching Kell interview Alanis. If anyone remembers Shannel on season 1 of Drag Race, it was very that :D

New album not coming anytime soon, but sounds like a full on divorce album will be coming after she takes a break this summer. I assume we won't get it until fall 2023. These Kellyoke EP(s) will bridge the gap.

It couldn't be MORE suited to her voice.

Skewer your ex through the medium of cover songs, QUEEN.

EP out today.

The 'Queen of the Night' cover FUCKS.

I like QOTN too, but the problem is that no one can do Whitney like Whitney. The tone, the phrasing, the attitude was just the stuff of a legendary legend.

THIS. You just shouldn't BOTHER. It sounds actual karaoke.

her version of Call Out My Name is proof that the Weeknd should sometimes write songs for other artists.

Happier Than Ever is incredible. If only her self-penned stuff was this interesting!

I don’t think it’s miles apart from stuff like “Sober” tbh…

Her “Fake Plastic Trees” is also lovely.

Oh Kelly, don't attempt Whitney.

And I say this as someone who thinks Kelly has a great voice. She sounds great when covering acoustic / folk / Americana type stuff.

The Breakaway duet with Sam Smith is pretty gorj

such an effortless slay. she's so great.

Exactly, effortless is the word. There's something so comforting about a seasoned pro stepping to the mic. You know they'll always swing and hit it out of the park.
