I am still negative - and I'm about to do a covid test in a minute :basil: klunk etc

(But no, I'm guessing I'm just a matter of time so will continue to test)

Mr L is still free of symptoms. He's decided he doesn't want to know and works from home anyway.

He does have a dental appointment on Friday though, and I am leaning on him to get tested before then at the very least.

I'm feeling a bit panicky because we were already short staffed when I went away for Eurovision (we have someone on bereavement/stress leave), so currently there's really only one other person doing the bit of the job I also do. That person delayed their own annual leave because I obviously couldn't change my plans, but they have time off booked very soon (starting on this coming Monday I think).

Exactly. Staff shortage is not a staff problem - shitty as it might be.
And it's quite literally the reason why managers are paid more. I know from experience the downward pressure can feel unbearable though, if you're in the slightest bit conscientious. When I felt pressure from my manager when I was off last year, I had to tell him that he needed to feed his stress up the line if he couldn't cope, not down it.

But 'Connor' (is that actually a thing now?), just remember, should it come to it (and fingers crossed it won't), that your ultimate responsibility is to yourself. Fuck work.

I did another test and it was positive :( I'm really not sure what to do about work, they're so desperate that they seem keen to have me in at the weekend/on weekday evenings (ie when nobody else is there) to try and clear things. I suppose that would depend on how well I feel over the next few days, but I'm already getting a bit heavy headed so I'm not sure it'll be an option.

It was out of my control! Rita typoed my name as Connor during Eurovision and before I knew it someone had changed it :o
We’ll probably never know who made the change, although the name change controls WERE on a very high shelf.

Changed my vote as Eurovision has came at a cost.

Tested again this morning, the second line appeared right away even before the first one which I haven't seen happen before. Not feeling any better either :(
That happened with my second test, which was 3 days after the first positive one. The line came through immediately, and much stronger.

I've just tested now, as due to see my mother, and it's negative. I still feel a little ropey though. Think I'll ask her if she wants me up there, and keep my distance as far as I can.

Does anyone who’s had this lose their sense of smell and taste too? If so how long did it take to come back and did it come back as it was previously?

Yes I did after 3 days from testing positive on a lateral flow for the first time. Mine was back within about 4 days, and it is the same as before thankfully. It does really seem to vary for people, hopefully yours comes back quick and as it was!

Took about 10 days to come back but for me when it did, it was instant. Not so much for others as I know they had some differences in not enjoying the same things. The mum of one of my friends didn’t get it back until nearly a year later :(

I was weighing up which was more annoying and I figured loss of smell is more manageable for longer than taste. Just getting impatient whilst I isolate.

Because I’m working at a summer camp, they paid for an airb&b in the middle of nowhere for me to stay in so I’m in a cabin to quarantine

14 days and then maybe 75% (I am now at 100%, this was back in Nov 2020). I was suggested by a research unit at uni to do a smell exercise which I really think helped. I've oogle translated their guide

By stimulating the sense of smell with the same smells repeatedly, you can increase the chances of getting the sense of smell back faster. About half of the patients with odor loss get faster improvement of the sense of smell with olfactory training. We therefore recommend that you perform odor training at home according to the following guideline:

Select four scents (fragrance oils, eg rose, carnation, eucalyptus and lemon) [I just used strong spices like cinnamon, cumin, curry]. If your sense of smell has completely disappeared or is greatly reduced, the fragrance oils are recommended, as these smell stronger.

Smell for each of the four smells for 30 seconds every morning and evening for three months. After three months, the four odors need to be replaced with four new ones. It is important to do daily odor training for many months, as the sense of smell often takes a long time to be retrained.

I hope you recover soon!

When did you last have it Ron? I feel like you had it same time as me. Wondering if my immunity window is ENDING :argh:

To be fair I’ve just spent the past 2 weekends at events with over 150,000 people so I could have any old shit

I've had it once, last year, and I'm currently pretending to have it again (but only to my colleagues) because I couldn't be arsed going in to the office this week

I'm not too bad. I tested negative yesterday afternoon so I thought I just had a bad cold but I was absolutely burning up last night. I've got the dry cough but I still have my sense of taste/smell.
