Track 7 from 'Erotica' just popped up on my random play and I'd forgotten how much I loved it back in '92. I was convinced that it was going to be a single, but sadly that never came to pass. I seem to remember that there was a remix of it included on one of the 'Rain' Remix EP's.

Having only ever owned the CD version of the parent album, I always thought of it as the beginning of side two and part of the suite of songs that ends with 'In This Life'. 'Did You Do It' and 'Secret Garden' were always extras on the album for me.

Interested in hearing what you think of it.

What happened? What do I remind you of?
Your past, your dreams
Or some part of yourself that you just can't love?
I wish I could believe you
Or at least have the courage to leave you

:(

In my head, I like that Deeper and Deeper lapses into Vogue and this at least gives a glance in the direction of Justify My Love. I think during this album she still obsessed over every lyric and this is one where I both like that the spoken words parts aren't just so and also wonder if the structure or rhythm of them would work better as you do need to wait for the bridge for it to properly kick into gear. It's definitely a key track on the album (and they kind of all are really), of which deserves being rediscovered as a classic instead of being referred to a some commercial "miss-step".

Which to me applies to the entire album. I feel guilty that it is one of my least-played albums by M and yet it is somehow also one of my favourites - albeit an overlooked one.

This would have been an awful single but I do like the BIT TIRED ACTUALLY HUNTY NECKED 40 PETER STUYVESANT BEFORE GETTING OUT OF BED vocals in the verses :disco:

Am on the weed so this one is sounding quite amazing generally OOOH MIDDLE EIGHT NOW

I know it's definitely on the Japanese import of 'Rain' but can I find it? Can I buffalo.

Oh I've put it on now as well - 'Waiting', that is. Of course it is a fan favourite and all that but I agree that it would have been an awful single choice.

'Thief of Hearts' as a single, on the other hand.... :disco:

1. Bad Girl (Marilyn’s Theme)
2. Deeper And Deeper
3. Rain
4. In This Life
5. Fever (*EDIT* One Mix)

10/10 (this thread needs a poll)

One of my favourite Madonna album tracks, possibly my favourite track on Erotica (maybe after Rain) and one of my favourite Madonna tracks OVERALL.

There were lots of hip hop and dance artists sampling Stax soul and 70s funk in the late 80s and early 90s (Eric B & Rakim, Soul II Soul) but Madonna doing it should not have really worked. Then again, she'd already succeeded infinitely with Justify My Love, and this was very much the sequel.

The production in it is the key. Rather than just rely on the drum loops, she drenches it in sex with strings, sax and piano and it's just a lush experience.

This was one of a handful of tracks that led to my real discovery of Madonna in the 90s prior to ROL, from being a passive fan of the HITZ to a proper loon.

The others are probably Why's It So Hard, I'll Remember, I Want You and pretty much the whole BS album.

Interestingly Rain has the most plays on Spotify - 14M to Deeper & Deeper's 7M

I've only just realised that neither of them are on Celebration, and Rain isn't even on GHV2 :manson:

Drunk by six AGAIN?

Honestly it's NIGHT AFTER NIGHT!

What can I do?
I don’t wanna feel

Oh God it's going to be MO ALBAM REAPPRAISAL SATURDAY at this rate, although I'm fairly sure that the top three will remain as follows:

1. Ray Of Light
2. Confessions
3. Bedtime Stories ALWAYS AND FOREVER :disco:

I’m often amused by the fact that my GRANDMOTHER bought me this album because I saw it on sale when I was at the shops with her

And no it was not the clean version with Did You Do It removed

And this is the beginning of a night of an average ho
It ain’t all about walking on the streets no more
Here’s another episode of dropping off a load
