Netherlands 2025: Claude - C'est la vie

I can't imagine what you've been through, Kevin. So sorry to hear it. I hope you're surrounded with love.

Thank you all for your kind words. It might be a bit strange to just throw it out there, but I've had such a fun time here for many years now I felt I had to at least mention it.

I do have a great family who want to see me probably more than I even want. I'm nor really looking forward to the coming week. It's strange how you get to take things for granted. 1,5 years ago I was happily married with an amazing dog and now I'm the only one left, both died without any warning.

This is it apparently:

It's... not quite what I was expecting...

Hope that's a top ten for them. That intro should be enough to lure in the juries if he can sing live, and he's got a relatively clear lane that doesn't have much competition so far.

I am going to be firmly kicking my leg out to that chorus in Basel.

The chord progression also brings to mind SEMINAL GERU HALWELL single CALLING

If his stage outfit does not include double denim as a tribute to the definitive ‘C’est La Vie’ then I do not want to know.

This is the slightly unhinged cousin to 2006’s arm-waving anthem Mr Nobody

Many parts of this song feel like a world hit, with others feeling like they were written in a week at 2003’s Fame Academy

Never stop REACHING!

I like it, but it's quite funny that the pre-release hype was that as soon as Team NL heard it, everyone was immediately captivated and knew it had to be the one.

They were RIGHT! :disco:

I so almost love it... It could really do with more production flourishes especially on the second chorus, and there's an extra 20 seconds they could easily play around with.

It's great, but yes, it could do with beefing up just a TOUCH. The ending feels premature and like it could go up a notch with another chorus after that.

I agree with the it needs more. It has the potential to REALLY go off, so it would be a shame to waste it.

I've just listened to it a second time and actually yes I now think the lack of oomph from the 2nd chorus onwards is borderline disgraceful. :D

I'm wondering do they want to try and keep it as radio-friendly as possible and maybe there's a beefier "live performance version" tucked away somewhere?

Yes I do think it will seem a touch ODD to people that the Netherlands are singing in French (even if it doesn't necessarily put them off)

It’s alright. I’m far from confident this will even qualify. It’s much better than that latest Joost single (dodged a bullet there if that was the entry) but nowhere near as strong as Europapa was.

Big fan of this on first listen

Hopefully he's not a bad egg like last year's Netherlands entry :)
