I’d say Cher but then have to also say it’s impossible for me to forget I’m watching her, as with all the others too I guess.

Cher is the best actress on that list by a VERY WIDE MARGIN

Bette Midler would be next followed by Liza. Two very good comedic actresses.

Lady Gaga has a lot of potential as an actress but hasn’t got enough work behind her to know whether A Star Is Born was a fluke.

The rest are just pop stars who acted a bit.

Jamelia and Kelle Bryan's AWARD WINNING Hollyoaks stints cruelly snubbed

Dolly Parton could get added. She was very effective in Steel Magnolias (1989).

Cher's tour de force performance, in my opinion, is Mask (1985). I love her not holding back when talking about the lovely director she had a blast working with..

The thriving, jiving Genevieve Waite starred in Joanna (1968), and I think it's one of the most marvelous films I've ever seen. Any queen who gets off on those trippy Ab Fab flashback scenes would be in their absolute element here. A singer, you ask? Why yes, she was married to a Mama and Papa who she made the beguiling Romance Is On The Rise (1974) with, featuring a cover of Femme Fatale, which featured Lou Reed.

Diana Ross didn't amass nearly enough acting credits than she should have, but Lady Sings the Blues (1972), my favourite Mohogany (1975) and The Wiz (1978) was a fantastic start to what basically finished here too (granted I've not seen Double Platinum (1999) with Brandy).

Ooh. But Cyndi Lauper. I've got the Vibes (1988) blu-ray, but have just never gotten round to watching it.

Also, never seen Britney's Crossroads (2002), but I loved her in Will & Grace (1998-2006, 2017-20), which made me think a film like Slap Her She's French (2002) could have been perfect for her.

I feel like I might have DISMISSED Whitney in the “pop stars who acted a bit” category because she was the lead in one of the biggest films of the 90s and she was MORE than competent in it, even if she might have been playing herself.

She was also VERY good in Waiting To Exhale.

I haven’t watched the priest one :meh:

‘Off and running’ was shit though. And I’m a fan.

Did our Babs Dickson ever do anything Hollywood, she was certainly of that ILK if she wanted to.

Band of Gold remains one of the finest UK dramas of all time, Geraldine James was in that too wasn't she, and the start of SAMANTHA MORTON

Beaches is the most manipulative 80s schmaltz, but Midler really does act her socks off in that last ten minutes.
