2019 Eurovision hangover topic (1 Viewer)

Oh the guy from last year?

Would it have been more humiliating? At least you could be like ooh Sweden didn’t get much, too bad.

Not “oh will Sweden win? They just need x points... let’s see if Sweden can win, it’s between Sweden and XYZ.....
Oh never mind Sweden are 6th, bye”

Well they would've been in the last three countries to be announced, so it would've been much higher profile than the casual 21 points near the beginning that he got. He'd have had a camera.

What Penny said... there would have been much more focus on him at the business end of the voting only for him to just get 21 points.

Oh hang on, I got you the wrong way round. I totally agree!

I mean several of this year’s top 10 got the headshot treatment. Czech Republic certainly weren’t expecting to get the 3rd lowest televote, but if they’d just died offscreen it would’ve been a lot less cruel.

(It was still the only normal human moment they had through the contest but that’s by the by)

I mean what if it had been Malta? Would’ve everyone be saying “it made great tv”? I never really understood that mentality. Maybe if someone is a cunt then sure, but just singing a song that I don’t like?

To some extent it may seem harsh, but they are entering a singing contest - they have to be prepared for failure. Most of them there aren't going to win. I'm not sure I really see it any differently than seeing the reaction of who is being booted off any other reality show in a given week. It's not like we're watching them being given the news of a terminal diagnosis or the death of a parent.

Brexit just ins't going to happen, is it? The politics will drag on, but even the hardcore loons seem to be coming around to the notion that it's a totally rotten idea.

I can see what you're saying, but it just doesn't feel in the spirit of Eurovision to be quite so cruel, whereas it is part of the course for a show like Big Brother.

The ex that I'm totally still in love with has just dropped the idea of us meeting up in Amsterdam next year.

I'm shook, shaking and crying all at the same time.

The penny did kind of drop for me when the host said during the voting as a way of building tension “wow this competition is so harsh.”

I suddenly thought, “wait a minute, no it isn’t!” or at least it isn’t meant to be...

They did have the decency to cut away from Malta and the Czechs very quickly at least. I think being in the top ten with the juries they didn’t really have much of a choice but to show them at least fleetingly.

UK Chart Entries

#61 Keiino
#67 Duncan Lawrence
#73 Soldi

Last year Netta got to #49 and Eleni got to #64.

It has to be harder every year in the Spotify Era for an Eurovision song to make the chart, did Heroes make the top 40? I remember Conchita did, and probably ome UK entries.

Honestly it feels like Eurovision was FOREVER ago but then I remember it was just last Saturday...
