Annie Lennox - A Christmas Cornucopia (1 Viewer)

Annie is the new face of M&S along with two time Academy Award winner Emma Thompson and bizarrely Baroness Lawrence of Clarendon. No room for Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o, but they're joined by people called Lulu Kennedy, Rachel Khoo, Alex Wek and Rita Ora, a heady mix of entrepreneurs, singers, models and chefs.

Statement, Annie Lennox:

"I hear you. Woman. Yes. Focus. Answer. I am angry now. Downtrodden, beaten, forlorn. But indestructible. I hear, I call, I answer. I am woman, hear me ROAR. HIV positively yours.
Annie"

Annie has out Commotioned Commotion with her 'letter to Santa 2015'.

This is a REAL THING

Here's my letter to Santa Claus for 2015 going forwards ...
(Part of the Letters Live project celebrating National Letter Writing Day)

Dear Santa,

It’s been a very long time since I’ve reached out to you on a personal basis. Just me — to you, so to speak. The fact is, I only believed in you until I was about 6 years old, so once it dawned on me that you were the central figure in a collusion between parents and toy manufacturers all over the Western world, there seemed to be little point in writing to you anymore. So — over five decades later — It’s me again, writing to the wonderfully jolly mythical persona with the white beard and red costume, carrying sacks of toys through the night sky on a sleigh pulled by flying reindeer!

I’ve tried to be a “good person” this year, but life has its challenges and I’m not sure whether I’ve come up to scratch. That being said — I don’t want jewellery, cameras, watches, perfume, bubble bath, socks, chocolates, handbags, scarves, gloves, ornaments or anything “material” at all in fact. I have everything I could possibly wish for, so I don’t want any more “stuff”. If there’s anything I might request, it would be something completely different.

— Could you think of a way to create long lasting, sustainable peace on this planet, so that millions of children could live happy, healthy lives?
— Could you ensure that entire generations aren’t forced to flee their homes in cities, towns and villages in war torn countries from Syria to Nigeria — because they are being continuously bombed, burned and brutalised at every turn?
— Could you please do something to stop the perpetrators of unspeakable violence, who claim to represent belief systems which permit them to commit vile atrocities with impunity?
— And could you very kindly put some sanity and compassion into the hearts and minds of the criminal profiteers of hatred, bloodshed and genocidal warfare?

Thank you Santa.

I truly wish you existed for grown ups.
Love and Best Wishes

Here's my letter to Santa

- Could you please make Annie Lennox do a proper album of good songs again

She could have put that sentiment to music, but whoever wrote My Grown Up Christmas List would have sued.

Wow, that's a really passive aggressive letter. He's only one man, Annie, don't be a bitch.

Why does she keep referring to actual words as if they were "some sort" of magical phrase that she's invented? "GOOD PERSON" IS A CONCEPT ANNIE.

Oh do fuck off, you "dreary cunt"

Love and Best Wishes

What a selfish fucking contrary bitch. She should have asked him for a new Shania Twain album like the rest of us

Well, she's a rich white girl and it's plain to see I suppose.

I can imagine her giving the same answer to anyone unfortunate enough to ask her.

Oh Ann - you hateful old drear - I was contemplating writing a message on your behalf, but you've decided to do it yourself this year.
I hope you understand me.
Commotion

Dave Stewart has written an autobiography and is doing a lot of press about it. He's already been quite unchivalrous and told the world he fucked Stevie Nicks (but to be fair, which musicians haven't?) and had this to say in a Guardian interview

“Annie’s first single, Why?, was about her relationship with me,” Stewart said.

“It was probably the first time she had a chance to sit down and say ‘what happened?’ When I first heard the song, and still when I hear it, I can hear every piece of pain that she put into it. When she sings ‘do you know how I feel?,’ it left a question. We’ve met hundreds of times since then and we never discuss our songs about each other. It’s opening up a can of worms. Who knows what will come out?”

It'll be an interesting flick through in Waterstones, and I'll be just as interested in the Siobhan years although I expect most people will be there for the Annie bits.

I hope he had a few good nights out with Alisha's Attic to dish up, and for some of the Siob and Marcy bitterness.

I wonder if Annie is doing a letter to Santa this year?

I absolutely adore this album. Annie is as talented and unique as Kate Bush, yet barely gets the recognition she deserves.

And Universal Child is one of the most beautiful songs I've EVER heard. It has genuinely moved me to tears on more than one occasion.

How do you feel about the comments in this topic?

Annie WOULD cry if she read the comments on here.

But sadly she CAN'T.

All her post menopausal tears are being reserved for Aleppo. And at her age her well of tears is shallow, and in danger of running as dry as her womanly juices.

Not to worry.

Her kids are in the luggage hold of an Air Syria airplane right now, ready to report - against their will of course - the traditional, Christmas mungbean casserole will be withheld otherwise.

*Buy 'Christmas in Aleppo' - out on December 26th*

Every single fucking Twitter post by her is about HIV, violence against women, campaigns against blindness etc etc

Has she forgotten the concept of FUN?

:D
Watch out homeless people.
SHE'S BEHIND YOU!!!!!

I wonder which park benches she's sourced for her kids to spend Christmas on this year?

You know

Walking On Broken Glass came on my iPod shuffle in the car on my drive this morning and I THOROUGHLY enjoyed it like the middle aged gay I am.

Shame she turned to shite.

Do you know I was only thinking earlier how Christmas 2017 hadn't really kicked off for me yet. Now I realise that without being BELLOWED ANGRILY at by La Lennox, how on earth is one supposed to feel even vaguely festive?

I think it may depend what kind of mood you're in, and hoping for a laugh may be a very risky move.
