UNDER MY SKIN - Avril at her best. So many bangers and sad bangers, My Happy Ending is my favourite single of hers

THE NEXT DAMN THING - Never really got into this one much compared to the two before it AND the ones after. No idea why, I certainly was NOT on an Avril lull in '07 at all. I still unapologetically love Girlfriend and it's my favourite single of hers

The verses of "Together" really demonstrate why she is one of the better (and unappreciated) pop female vocalists of the 2000s.

She can emote, and ROCK!

very random but I love how she super-enunciates when she sings words that end in "t". MAKE YA FORGETTTTT
 
"Don't Tell Me" was probably an obvious lead single to the label at the time cause it is "Complicated"-esque but it's a bit WEIRD in hindsight.
 
I do like it though. It just seems a bit pedestrian for her compared to what else is on the album.

let's be honest, this album had exactly one candidate for lead single.

Don't Tell Me is great though. so warm and lovely. did it semi-flop? I can't remember...

there's a good song fighting to get out of He Wasn't but I find it a bit kidz bop for my refined palette. :eyes:

It didn't flop per se (#22 in the US, scraped top ten of pop radio) but it did kind of feel like it came and went off the momentum of her previous album, whereas "My Happy Ending" was on radio for the better part of a YEAR!

My Happy Ending truly is HEALING. I think six days a week it's probably my favourite Avril track. that chorus soars SKY HIGH! great melodies, gorgeous melodies.
