Big Brother: Week 4 (1 Viewer)

It's very clear this experience will inspire a great deal of self-reflection and personal growth in Paul :eyes:

‘big brother told us to wind everyone up’ ??

I thought this was interesting. As much as these shows like to now hark on about duty of care they were still obviously willing to have housemates come across like pricks without any idea of what that could mean for them outside and their mental health. I know Paul was gobby but in the back of his mind he’d have still thought he was doing Big Brother a favour.

Do any of the housemates SMOKE? Do they not show people smoking now?

Tom in tears. Oh well!

Face-to-face nominations on Tuesday. :o I'm guessing another double eviction?

Unless there's one more person going in the Hunger Games task? Or three people going?

I agree. I've seen a few people saying AJ and Will don't go hard enough in the post-eviction interviews, but I actually think they got the tone just about right after how genuinely gutted and shell-shocked Paul looked.

It's probably naive to think the show hasn't manipulated situations to encourage people to behave in certain ways. And that doesn't justify the extent to which Paul interpreted and acted on that instruction (if indeed there was one), nor any of the stuff he did that was of his own volition. But I don't think, having been clearly brought down a peg or two by the crowd, there's any need for a finger-pointing interrogation by AJ and Will.

The interviews themselves are quite underwhelming, though. They don't feel particularly insightful, and I wonder if that's because of the two-on-one format. When the situation warranted it, Davina McCall and Emma Willis had the ability to occasionally pull at a thread and keep going until the evictee unravelled. With AJ and Will, the sole purpose of their interviews feels like it's to get answers that link up the highlight reels and keep to time.

I’m so pleased I remained non-spoiled. And after Paul went I still didn’t believe both the girls would survive… I’m literally the happiest I remember being for a Big Brother eviction 😂

I think Trish might be perennially up for eviction but I'm much more confident after last night that she can beat the evil side.

Who do we think is in danger next now the balance of the house has shifted? Olivia, Tom, Jenkin?

I would say Olivia is probably a dead cert to be up, and I would expect she would go unless she changes now Paul’s left. I have really gone up and down with her, she shows moments of being hilarious and a good housemate then when she was with Paul nearly as bad as him!

I don’t think so actually. She’s survived two evictions, two of the people who nominated her are gone, and these housemates are savvy. Until this week there’d been no repeat nominees I think partly because they were testing the waters with the public.

I could see Olivia and Tom nominating her but I think the rest might not.

What was NOT a particularly sensational TV was them turning the live feeds off for THREE HOURS on Thursday night for ‘that’ little drama between Trish and Paul. Was that really all it was??

Trish is now beginning to challenge Jordan for runner up on the odds. She really has been the star turn throughout the series. Truly one of the great contestants.

TRISH TO WIN PLEASE :disco::o

Is that 1.45m including ITV1? I assuming so, as they refer to Late and Live being exclusively on ITV2.

That's a really weak figure for ITV1. Still double what BB has been pulling in the overnights, though.

The breakdown is in the next tweet. Appalling figure for ITV1.

Not sure I see why people who haven’t been following the show and don’t know the characters would watch it just because it’s on ITV1…

THAT SAID, what an episode those who did sample it got :disco: :disco: :disco:

Oh no. Does that not look good for its future then? :(
I think it's still doing well for ITV2 - I just don't think it makes sense to put it on ITV1 as well.

According to the Radio Times it was meant to be an episode of It'll Be Alright On The Night they were showing originally.

I can only assume that ITV are hoping to retain some of that extra audience will stay to prop up the flailing figures - at least in the overnights it's been dropping week on week, and as I posted elsewhere, being consistently beaten by MAFS on E4.

This overnight figure of 1.45m for the double eviction last night on ITV1 and 2 combined is only 0.25m more than what MAFS is pulling in on the overnights most nights on E4 alone.
