I woke up today and thought about budget hotels. Sometimes they're unavaoidable. Sometimes they're the only option you have.
Sometimes they're genuinely splendid.
But most times there's always something a bit off.
Let's compare, contrast; maybe even rank and rate. But also let's share experiences and horror stories.

No budget hotel will ever be as bad as the WIRRAL HOVEL some of the mopsy Eurovision contingent stayed in.

Never Travelodge. Best Westerns always seem a bit tired and unloved

Fuck travelodges. Horrible places.

Some of these very much not as budget as others. And the "budget budget" version of some, e.g. Ibis Budget can't be put together with Ibis. Staying at Ibis Budget at Manchester Airport is like being given the box room for half rent. It really is like a jailcell.

Those ZIP hotels by Premier Inn are horrible though, I don’t care how cheap. Prisoners live better!

Otherwise, fine with most. I don't mind Premier Inns or Holiday Inns. Business hotels of choice.

Of course i'll look for a nice B&B or guest house if i actually have control.

Probably because Best Western isn't really a hotel chain. It's a bunch of B&Bs and small hotels that have joined a network. That's why i don't really mind using them.

I stayed in a Days Inn on the Welsh border once and it had a “SPA” :eyes::disco:

The easyhotel just lets any old fucker off the street swan in without any key holders having to come down and let them in, which is a great security concern or timesaver depending on your purposes. Or so I've heard!

Never tried an easyHotel. Are the rooms all ORANGE?

Otherwise tbh I'd quite happily stay at any of these. Travelodges are VARIABLE to say the least but mostly FINE. Anywhere with 12pm checkout gets bonus points from me.

I have very fond memories of getting shitcanned in multiple ibis (ibii?) over the years so they hold a special place in my heart

Proper Ibis hotels used to be such a lovely chain hotel, but the budget ones are like student accommodation.

I don't really use them much, but we use the Holiday Inn at Stanstead when flying and it's absolutely solid.

I didn't realise Leonardo used to be Jury's. Or know that they were budget. The Jury's here certainly never was. Bland yes, budget no.

I guess it depends on the purpose but I’ve stayed in a couple of Moxys, once in London after a connecting flight was missed and once in Lisbon for Madonna’s Celebration tour and they were fine. Bar was nice, room was well soundproofed with a solid mattresses too on the bed so had no complaints for an overnight stay.

We've got a new(ish) Moxy's here and the bar at least is nice.

I mean they came to Liverpool and chose to stay in BIRKENHEAD. They deserved everything they got.

Holiday Inns aren’t really that budget anymore. Many of the city ones have been refurbished into 4 star hotels and they are NOT cheap. Cheaper than other 4 stars maybe.

I thought Leonardo's just continued where Jury's left off not budget. I like Travelodges. They're not 5 star but they're clean & reasonably priced. Don't really get why people think Premier Inn's are better. They're basically the same but Premier Inn's are a bit more expensive.

I think we're getting a Moxy's here, they're converting the old Post Office. Not that I'll ever stay.

I'll research hard to get a good deal on the hotel I choose. But I'm happy to spend more on a good hotel in a good location.

Premier Inns are decent as long as they're not at Luton airport; that was like HMP Belmarsh with vending machines.

I actually stay at the Travelodge a fair bit as part of my work - I was in one last night. I don't hate them, although they NEVER have plug sockets next to your bed which means you've to plug your laptop in by the kettle and rearrange the bed to get a satisfactory wank in.

Moxy is fine apart from the whole sexy young people have fun wink wink thing. Only stayed at the Edinburgh airport one. Liked the bar. Wouldn't actively seek them out again.

Travelodges are pretty awful (variable quality unlike a Premier Inn) but the Super Rooms are great.

I got fucked off an older gent at the travelodge at southwaite services years back. Still makes me feel sick now thinking about it. Pretty sure that was the travelodge tho.

I have tried quite a few with work.

Leonardo hotel in Amsterdam was excellent!
Hamptons are very good as well.

Holiday Inn and Best Westerns are really the basic bitches of the lot. Sometimes they can be decent.

I think they’re kind of upmarket budget
You’re right though there not really budget strictly speaking
Oh dear now this poll makes me look like a Tory

Vote now updated to add Moxy. All the ones I’ve been to are great.

I’m actually going back to same one I’ve been to before in Lille next week because it was really nice.

BUDGET :o

Justice for the faded glamour of a Brittania hotel where the only thing scarier than the ghouls that haunt the place are the hunchbacked ogres on reception.

Now THAT is budget. Awful shitholes, awful immoral owners.

We have a depressing Days Inn at the motorway services near me and I always question how knackered you must be to not even drive 5 mins to the Travelodge.
