Celebrity Race Across The World (1 Viewer)

Not watching this at all, but if Harry McFitArse gets his kit off ever, can you post pictures in here and tag me, thanks ever so.

I say IF... he's never appeared in anything and NOT got his kit off, so it will happen at some point.

He's got his top off twice in the opening montage ALONE

Good ol' Harry. His Attitude shoots will forever hold a special place in my heart.

I love Harry and his mum. It's probably all the city breaks I did with my own mum after my dad died (and that her health prevents her doing now), but I find the pair of them really emotional to watch.

Is Helene's friend of the unknown address the new hotel that Bonny might know someone in?

The others did seem to dilly dally a bit this leg so not a surprise they were caught. They didn't say exactly how far behind everyone was though.

I am not ready for a Harry and Emma fall out :(

Does this show now actually seem like they are racing more than it did in the first two seasons? Everyone just seemed to amble everywhere with the sense of urgency of a tortoise emerging from hibernation.

I still watch The Amazing Race (now on season 35 in the US) and just wish the BBC had gone with making that rather than this.

I've never watched The Amazing Race so can't compare, but this really is a curious mix of travel documentary, human relationship commentary and race, but for me it juggles it beautifully.

The race aspect itself only really factors in to my enjoyment in the last 10 minutes of the show - and even then it's quite hard to get too excited about any individual leg when everything changes so much from one to another. Yet that doesn't dim my enjoyment in the slightest.

The race aspect just feels almost fake to me because none of them seemed the least bit bothered about it in the first two seasons. If they want to do a travel documentary, do a travel documentary.

But you're fiercely competitive, @cwej! I think most people who don't know The Amazing Race are probably happy watching a bit of AMBLING with some human interest and sightseeing thrown in.

A very competitive Harry and his mum did get quite ratty with each other this week. I'm glad they seem on better form from next week's preview.

Where is our Mel though?

I really hope either Mel and Helene or Billy and Bonny win, just because it seems like Alex and Harry are more desperate for it, although Alex seems to be softening more in that respect.

They are all over where they should be in terms of expenditure, aren't they? And surely that last leg from Berlin through Scandinavia to Tromsø is going to be the most expensive.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are production shenanigans next episode to keep it reasonably competitive for the final leg.

Did we hear what the gap was last night? I can remember Mel saying something about not being quite as last as they were, but not an actual time difference.

No. They seem to be saving revealing the time gaps for the beginning of the next week's episode.

As wonderful as Mel and Helene are, I am leaning towards Billy and Bonny.
I think it's because both Billy and Bonny seem to want it, but neither too unappealingly so. Helene and Emma both clearly aren't particularly arsed at all, and although I think Noel is a bit more invested in the idea of a race, he's delightfully chilled (as a counterpoint to Alex, certainly) about it.

It would be funny if Mel and Helene won as Mel seems to be the celeb who's least competitive, and Helene is well, fabulous.

Just catching up on this, I am liking Harry and Emma more and more, and for some reason I saw them as unlikely winners, so it was good to see them being ratty with eachother and then come back from that

What!? Even Checkpoint Jen?

The gays will enjoy these Harry shots :eyes:
But less so the bad attitude ! :o

Oh Mel and Hélène you really stuffed that leg up :D
I think I actually want the brother and sister to win now

I really would love Mel and Helene to win, just because you'd have NO IDEA they were even in any sort of race, other than spending all that cash on one train ticket.

It looks like Harry decided after the last leg to pretty much give up on the race aspect and keep his mum happy.
