The whole "D'Eux" album is superb and worth a spin. The cultural impact it had in France is ridiculous- the album was number one FOREVER and it's the biggest selling album there ever by some considerable margin (and she's in 2nd place with the follow up "S'il Suffisait D'aimer as well). And it's deserved- it's quite different to her overblown English language stuff. I absolutely adore it.

However, that number 4, Et S’il N’en Restait Qu’une (Je Serais Celle-Là), is absolutely one of the most ridiculously overblown DRAMMAAAAAA things she's ever done.

They both sound the same to me but it's written in Category 4 Section 6 Paragraph 12 of the moopy handbook that the French version is superior and DEATH for anyone who says otherwise, so I just default now to the French version.

Pour Que Tu M’aimes Encore is lyrically beautiful. Beautiful French referencing, lyrically clever and epic and the whole delivery is just ACHING. “Je me changerai en or, pour que tu m’aimes encore” INDEED.

If That’s What It Takes is generic, rhyming PAP which is blighted by her singing, whilst adequately, without a tenth of the emotion of the original.
