Lately I've been digging Debut. The production is simpler and in some spots dated at this point but she put so much more into her vocal performance and songwriting. Her voice is fabulous and youthful, it leaps up and down and flutters like a bird. I don't think she's topped it since strictly vocally. It's also more cohesive than Post, basically a perfect first album. The B-sides are phenom too, especially the Elgar Sisters material.
And I always wanna go dancing around town on the back of a truck like HER.
This. Consistency is much stronger on Debut - and as someone said 'It's Oh So Quiet' sitting there in the middle is a dreadful idea. Should have either used it as a closer or bonus track or just NOT EVEN PUT IT ON THERE.
But the real fight regarding Bjork is between Vespertine and Homogenic for me - they are both stellar pieces of work. And Selma Songs around the same time was also fabulous.
