Dua Lipa - Don't Start Now (1 Viewer)

This is everything I ever wanted from her :disco:

Does nothing for me and god knows I love a dead-eyed disco doll singing laconic platitudes.

It just builds and builds but it never really gets there.

Safe to say she's smashed "that difficult come-back single", I think. That'll be all over yr dancefloors for yr Xmas parties, surely.

Definitely! I see this as a I Believe In You/This Is What You Came Here For/Rockabye style upbeat smash that keeps giving through the festive period.

A clever tactic to be honest, as it’s great to have an alternative to the slew of Christmas music that’s about to impact imminently.

It’s a great comeback, and you can somehow see it managing to appeal to most demographics - from 8 year old girls to 70 year old women.

have i only just noticed or have you always been into pop music quite this much?

(i approve, obvs, just curious)

Always. It's just that there was a long period around the time Moopy started where there was a lot of really awful pop music. We are now in vastly better times.

Very intrigued about the album now, when did she become the most exciting thing about pop in 2019?

The Sharon Stone moment in that performance. :D She looks infinitely more confident with her 'I don't give a shit' vibe than she used to.

Some of the choreo in that performance made me do a gay squeal. Living. What a song/moment.

I'm going to be mightily pissed off if this isn't a global smash

It will be - just had its best day on Spotify, up to #5 globally!

That was a truly fabulous performance.

snatching crowns :disco:

This sounds even better after a few listens (that BASSLINE) and it actually *commits* to a sound rather than just being a safe, faceless bet to fit on any spotify playlist.

Poor Issac Carew. It's going to awkward around his house for a bit.

The thing I like the most about her is she just delivers solid fucking tunes without any of the gimmicks. I'm so fucking sick of overplayed pop stars who are all hype and no tunes. It's good to have that reliability again. I feel like it's practically non-existent these days.

I bet you thought she was like this when she first started out :D

I seem to remember being convinced she wasn't getting any traction and was heading for flopdom.

And being wilfully excluded by her music. I don't know if the music changed, the marketing or whatever. Or perhaps just my perception.

another performance.

she's too awkward for the direction they're/she's pushing her(self) in. her physicality is too adolescent and clumsy for this sexy shit and the tongue licking has to stop. apart from that she looks great and i'm on board with the song after a bit of resistance (i simply hate those guitar licks in the verses in contemporary music). the best part is obviously the last 10 seconds - there's an extended version which gives them a bit more life.

where does one hear this?

I hate her styling in that new performance and it doesn't match the EMAs perf but still she's raised her game pretty significantly on stage, so good for her!

Away and behave, she's doing GRAND.

And what's this shit keeping her off number one? UNIMPRESSED.

Dance Monkey. Oh I'm sure it will pass soon. It's ONLY been no.1 in 30 countries and spent 8 weeks at no.1.

Album title announced - "Future Nostalgia". Revealed on Instagram via her new tattoo. How VERY 2019.

Not keen myself but so what? Just a title innit?

I think she did fine in that performance. She's definitely going in the right direction I think.

I like it, in a strong 7 kind of way. Hopefully it'll grow.
