Dua Lipa - Don't Start Now (1 Viewer)

Will most likely move into the top 5 this week - her biggest hit stateside! :disco:

Indeed. Moves up to #5 this week:

Dua Lipa's "Don't Start Now" rises 6-5 on the Hot 100, marking her first top five hit. Her sole prior top 10, "New Rules," reached No. 6 in February 2018. "Start" also becomes Lipa's second No. 1 on the Pop Songs airplay ranking, after "Rules" reigned for four weeks, also in February 2018.

unless the double lipped one is spreading fake news on youtube, don't start now is now up to number 3 on the billboard hot 100.

just you wait for autumn when physical will start its very own speed of light ascent to the top!

Don't Start Now is the rarest of pop songs - the kind of instant 10 that somehow just gets better with time and exposure. Every live rendition has been great, every arrangement brings out something new - it's quite simply a classic.

Seeing it at #3 on the Hot 100 feels like some kind of fever dream. When does female pop this good (and this gay) ever dominate globally like this?

She is truly a gift. :disco: (and if you'd told me 6 months ago I'd ever say that about Dua Lipa I'd laugh in your face)

The album leaked this morning in HQ.

It's a solid affair. I just listened once but the two singles are clearly the best things here. Everything else is on-theme but relatively subdued. I'd say it has maybe four fillers. The final two tracks feel weirdly like they came from a totally different, much worse album. The Moopy doola peeps will be here for Levitating, Love Again and Hallucinate though.

There's just nothing really balls-out in the way Physical is. That's very much the exception here. Most of it has a similar tempo and is nicely produced but decidedly unadventurous.

Absolutely LOVING "Levitating".

Figures these are two of some of my favorites on the album :D

"Good in Bed" is the 2020 Lily Allen moment we didn't need but I quite inexplicably like it.

"Pretty Please", "Break My Heart" are "Hallucinate" ("MA-MA-MA-POKER FACE" anyone :eyes: ) are quite nice on first listen, but overall, I agree that it's a mild let down.

She just did an Instagram live to announce the album is MOVING - coming FORWARD to this friday! :disco:

Break My Heart out Wednesday with video.

New dates for the postponed tour also coming Friday. Queen!

Fair enough. It's leaked, everyone's at home and all the shops are shut anyway so LP/CD sales are screwed - time to get that captive audience a-streaming.

#6 of the year so far according to the OCC. No sales figure given, but it does state #5 (Own It) has sold 550k, so hopefully not too far behind that.

Surely it must be very close to a million now?

God the Hot 100 became SUCH A SLOG in the last decade - look at how comparatively discerning the 90s were with their megasmashes :D

I can't believe Luanne Rimes spent 32 weeks with that song. I mean it's a nice song but that would drive me crazy

I knew the first Jewel album had been massive but didn’t realise that single had been mammoth too.

Wasn't it essentially two hits? You Were Meant For Me was massive, then they belatedly released it on CD single with the equally popular Foolish Games as the AA side?
