Dua Lipa - Physical (1 Viewer)

Sorry, that was well cunty. I do find that Dua's bops rarely reveal themselves on first pass. Those 20 seconds Insta previews rarely cleave the Colemans.

Physical is obviously AMAZING, but I do wonder if this era is going to be *that* successful for her? It all very much screams 'gay interest only'.

As much as it was indisputably a big hit, I can't help feeling Don't Start Now didn't QUITE become the globe-conquering behemoth it was expected to be...

Don'y Start Now has been massive, and is still growing in many markets..!
Had it not been for Dance Monkey it would have likely had at least 2 weeks at number 1. It's her second biggest track in the USA now too which is huge for her, as she has escaped the curse of being "the New Rules girl" which is something Carly Rae and Kylie never managed after CMM and CGYOMH.

If anything, I think we are likely to see Physical underperform slightly as Don't Start Now is continuing to be a be a big hit. (See also: In Your Eyes by Kylie and Rihanna's Shut Up And Drive)

i don't think physical is a particularly great song to be honest. but it's fun and interesting and sorta off-trend and in combination with the video, i can say i am very much here for it.

i'm still borderline mad about the stupid don't start now video. what a wasté.

This is fantastic - it was stuck in my head after one listen which is unusual for me.

Debuts at #14 on Spotify. A bit lower than Don´t Start Now if I recall correctly. It will probably drop a bit tomorrow, but if it starts climbing back after that then thats a good sign.

The song “Future Nostalgia” is a full-on marriage between Neneh Cherry, Prince and Fame-era Lady Gaga.

What a MAGICAL combination.

Physical up to #3 on iTunes, which I think is a peak, isn't it?

Has climbed back up to #17 on Spotify as well, after initially falling from #14 to #21.

If I recall correctly, it was briefly #2 for a bit on Monday.

Still at #3 on iTunes, #16 on Spotify. It might clinch top 10 this week overall.

I´m sure it will still be a solid hit for her when all is said and done but it definitely feels likes it´s been overshadowed a bit by DSN still dominating - the later is still #7 on spotify, 3 months into its run.

i'm ready to give this an eleven.

fucking fantastic and solidification of her status as the big pop girl of the last couple of years. in my eyes anyways.

I don't know if it's better than Don't Start Now - both are career-bests but I find it hard to compare. One more killer single after this and it'll be the singles run to END ALL SINGLES RUNS

i'm coming round to thinking it is. as a package, it is an utter triumph and no mistake.

I think it will hinge on the performances - I can see this song being harder work vocally but also lending itself to some incredible setups :disco: god she's so exciting! I'm gonna attempt to get last minute tickets for her Amsterdam date in May (the tour is very early in the campaign isn't it?)

The Don't Stop Now performances were big moment after moment. I agree that Physical sounds like something that she won't be able to sing as well live, but I am sure she'll deliver in the razzle dazzle.

someone posted this:

2015: Be The One
2016: Blow Your Mind
2017: New Rules
2018: One Kiss
2019: Don't Start Now
2020: Physical

i'd swap blow your mind for last dance but yeah... boom.

i'm proper obsessed with physical now. the final 30 seconds with the dark synths... so fucking good.

my promo blitz has been going strong too, two loon converts in two days *.*

(when i made him watch it the first one said, oh i gave up a minute into the video cause i was bored... i swear people these days have the attention span of a tin of spam)

more importantly: les ged fizika!

I really like this but it feels a notch below either "New Moves" or "Don't Start Now" in general public terms.

not a bad start, although this will obviously take a good couple of months to get going with Don't Start Now climbing the top 10 currently

i'm proper obsessed with this. the first proper pop monster of 2020 *.*

it's also number 2 on last.fm, howsthatforinimportantstat?

Halsey's You Should Be Sad begs to differ, but I'll happily name it the second :disco:

just gave this the benefit of doubt after giving up on her wildly middling output a while ago.

wobbly chipmunk voice, shitty lyrics, gross country guitar, abysmal aesthetics, no thanks.

The real question is will she collaborate with fellow Albanian JUGGERNAUT Rita Ora?
There's beef between them actually. Nobody knows what it is, but they have never been photographed together, don't follow each other, have never publicly supported each other... all of which seems innocuous enough, but both are very close friends with fellow Albanian chanteuse Bebe Rexha so it's a bit weird.

There's even a picture of their grandfathers lunching together in the 50s...

TLDR - don't expect a HOT COLLAB any time SOON

is that photo real? wow!

i know ze reet has had a few good ones, but i'm really not invested and the other one is so exhpenable it's not even funny.

I thought they were friends (kind of) since they both know what it feels like to release a million singles before an album
