I have some friends suggesting a trip here. Have you been? Would you recommend it? What's good? What's bad? What's for dinner? And how long would you recommend going for?

You can probably do it easily in two days. Stayed just outside the old town and would recommend that, it gets ridiculously busy when the cruise ships are in. It is much more bearable in the evening. Definitely recommend walking up to the viewpoint above town. If you want a break from the chaos of the old town take a boat and pop over to Lokrum or Cavtat.

Is worth a visit but when it comes to Croatia, I'd pick Split over Dubrovnik personally though.

There's a great restaurant called Taj Mahal (not Indian despite the name); book ahead as there's often queues outside.
Haha I went there too ! Though was their restaurant outside the old town (hotel Lero it seems)

Yeah I’d definitely avoid the old town during the day. It can be hell. The other little towns along the coast from the airport are worth checking out though, Cavtat is a must. I stayed in Mlini and it was gorgeous, plenty of little cafes and restaurants. There’s also the abandoned Kupari resort on that same strip of coastline that was bombed during the war if that’s your thing.

Depending on how much you plan on spending/how long you plan on going I’d definitely recommend a trip to the Kotor Bay in Montenegro. STUNNING (And much less busy!).

Loved it! The old town, Lokrum island with peacocks, the view point overlooking the city. Great food, clear waters and nice landscapes. When I visited around 10 years ago you could still see ruins of old bombed buildings reminding of the history. It was very warm in early May when I visited and not peak tourist season so I can recommed that time of the year.

EDIT: but it’s quite small so maybe take 2-3 days here and head to other places in Croatia or surrounding countries.

Definitely not my favourite thing I have seen in Croatia. Not a huge fan of fortified towns because you just feel trapped. With thousands of other tourists :MilesPanic:
The surroundings are nice. But then that’s true about a lot of places in Croatia.
