EastEnders 2024 (1 Viewer)

Is Linda going to die at Christmas? Her family were all papped filming a funeral with her not present and I see a lot of rumours swirling that she takes her own life. :(

I don't want to lose said character, but I don't know their purpose anymore.

Every Xmas day episode from 1992-2008 (+ Angie's divorce papers episode) has been uploaded to iPlayer today. Watch how Gillian Taylforth refuses to age and then DIES

A few things have happened in terms of convenient leaks to the press that have given me cause to believe that they were either staged photos, or all is not as it seems.

Said character is so established now, they really can't go. The actor is quite capable of doing all sorts. I know there's a few characters of their type (established matriarchs), but her role in The Vic provides some continuity.

I’m always of the opinion that no one is bigger than the show and any character is replaceable. I don’t want her to go and think the actress is incredible at playing drunk Linda but she maybe wants to leave? Let’s hope it’s all a hoax.

I’m actually not sure we need to speak in spoiler tags here as it’s all just speculation at the moment (although the abundance of caution is of course appreciated).

Anyway to be honest I think they WANT us to think that REDACTED is being killed off, not just because of the pap funeral pics, people letting slip in interviews that Christmas is set to be “tragic” and there was even a bizarre tabloid story about a script being left on a train that detailed an unnamed person dying.

It feels like an attempt to build hype to me. If it was genuinely going to be a bit Christmas plot twist, there’s no way they’d have been so sloppy about keeping it a secret.

I really don't think for a minute they'd

... kill Linda off whilst there is still the prospect of Mick returning from the grave. Especially with Danny Dyer increasingly hinting at wanting to return.

Even if Kellie Bright chose herself to leave, it would be open ended I'm sure.

Maybe they'll go for a fake out "canoe man" storyline, and they'll both be brought back with an on-location shoot in Panama in 2027.

I heard a rumour that the Linda funeral scenes were part of A Christmas Carol style ghosts of Christmas future storyline where she's visited by a 'ghost' who gives a glimpse into her future where she succumbed to alcohol addiction.

This is my theory too. Gives them a way to bring Danny Dyer back for a guest appearance without totally committing to Mick still being alive.

Two episodes for Christmas Day this year as opposed to the bumper 60 minute edition. The first will be at 7:30pm and the second will be at 10:35pm which is just absolutely ridiculous if you ask me.

Looks like there's a 45 minute episode on Christmas Eve as well? They really are happy to make their viewers work to find it, aren't they?

In some ways the most interesting ratings battle will be between Corrie and EastEnders, as much as Gavin And Stacey and Call The Midwife will beat both of them with ease.

Have ITV announced their full line up for Christmas Day? Are they waving a white flag amd surrendering as anticipated?

That is AWFUL!!

Nothing says 'the most special day of the year' than the same 7am to 12 noon schedule, and essentially the same evening one too, as a random week day in January

  • Honey has been GOLD today.
  • God Jean is STUPID. The first scam I could vaguely understand, but this one was dumb.
  • Nugget is the WORST.

I'm actually surprised it's taken this long for him to reappear.

Mickey the character definitely isn't one of the show legends by any stretch, but it's strange they made no attempt to make anything of Joe Swash's popularity years back. Was he under some kind of ITV exclusive deal maybe?

It felt very much like "which cast are available?" like they do for inserting news stories.

*Stacey has one line and isn't seen for the rest of the episode*

Amazing Denise wasn't involved, she normally is. I imagine she actually lives on set.

They should bring back Sean Slater :horny:

Mickey doesn’t even have much of a connection with anyone in the show. Maybe Jay, because Dawn was nearly his step-mother, and Jay didn’t even come out to say hello.

Who’s next? GUS?
