Here's a thread for any website updates and eventually actual news regarding her and the music :disco:๐ŸŽถ

  • Enya.com is working  The Warner people got it back; it currently redirects to https://www.warnermusic.ie/artists/enya/ (Since 2nd-3rd April 2023)
  • Enya's Wikipedia picture is a suitable 2022 headshot again :D (If you see the page's history, me as Topaz Rochelle, in June last year I uploaded an image which remained for a bit until it got took down for licensing issues etc.. I credited the source in the description, changed they author, but apparently the still need the photographer's permission and all that... They kept changing it for some time, and the image was Enya at a funny angle on the random blue sofa for a while ๐Ÿ˜…)
Finally, just a few days ago (as of this post date; the image looks slightly AI edited, but it's fine) a better 2022 image upload of Enya has stayed
It's been removed again..

Enya in May 2022

Edit August 25th 2023:
I uploaded this more glamorous Enya appearance:
HydxoTN.png

๐Ÿ’๐Ÿช„from the Christmas 2019 message,
which should be nice and valid for the time being. got deleted moments after the upload but here you go anyway ๐Ÿค—

Hopefully we will both see and hear more of Enya later this year, or the next ๐Ÿคฉ ๐ŸŽผ๐Ÿ’—

Somehow I can't get excited about that content-less page that enya.com now leads us to.
Such a crap design (at least on my screen)...two of the link icons blend in with the background pic. :goodgrief: (Edit: the icons were fixed so you can now actually see them, lol.)

The discography etc etc site it used to point to was much better. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

"Enya Facts for Kids", illustrated by the Worst Enya Pic Ever, lol. I haven't proofread this yet to see how many errors it might contain. ๐Ÿ˜ (TBH, at first glance it looks like it's just a copy-and-paste of the Wiki page!)

I came across that before, and yes, it it similar to the Wikipedia page, slightly simplified in some places. ๐Ÿ˜„ I don't think it has particular errors, apart from that the years are a bit vague (and notes Shepherd Moons- The Memory of Trees as 1989-1997, when that is more like the start of her working on the album, and the release of the compilation Paint The Sky With Stars - somewhat confusing info).

Another resource for kids about Enya (and some for Clannad) are comprehension and reading activity pages on the teaching resource site Twinkl - it's quite nice that there is a version as Gaeilge (in Irish) too! https://www.twinkl.com/search?q=enya ๐Ÿ˜‡

I wish I did comprehension pages about Enya back in primary/elementary school :D ๐Ÿ’ญโœ๏ธ

About the 'golden' gold-plated microphone she used as of the Dark Sky Island recordings - I think it will still take a while to complete, but not quite as many layers as the hundreds she had to do on most songs for those earlier albums.

Anyway, I thought @Castle_Qwean was going to mention this clip from last week, where Bartley, Enya's brother announced that she is in the recording studio, recording for her new album! :happy:๐Ÿ’ก๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ

Oh GOOD, I look forward to that being released in 2034.

In other happy Enya news, I saw Watermark (the song rather than the album) got a silver cert last week for selling 200k in the UK. Which is actually fairly impressive as that will have been entirely on downloads and streams in the modern era, rather than any original 80s sales. It's only her fourth song to have done so.

ENYA UP

Ah yes, I've seen that. Is Bartley a more credible source than Moya? After all, Moya said in early 2019 that Enya "is always recording", yet we've still heard nothing.

Moya was quoted in this February 27, 2019 newspaper article: https://www.independent.ie/regional...ays-moya-on-private-sister-enya/37863429.html

Actually, that article appeared shortly after we learned that the studio was being refurbished/upgraded. Aigle purchased (but did not put into commission) a new studio console sometime between mid-2017 and mid-2018. Then, the January 26, 2019 message on Enya.com, announcing the impending closure of the Unity forum, mentioned that the studio was being "refurbished." (Sources available upon request  .)

It's also true that Leo's Tavern gets a lot of business from Enya, Moya, and Clannad fans. So one could argue he's not an objective outsider.

BTW, I wonder what happened to all these grand plans (see link below)! The museum sounds intriguing. Alas, we have to be content with the pics and gold/platinum album awards on the walls of the tavern.

Yes, that is true, haha. Still, Bartley is more likely to hear directly from Enya about the music, and probably drives her around most when it isn't Nicky Ryan.[IMG width="260px" alt="Enya describes how her father Leo played the saxophone to bring in the new year (in 1989) and that the party afterwards continued into the morning. She went to bed at 9, woke up at 2:30 (in the afternoon supposedly) and her younger brother Bartley drove her back (to Nicky and Roma's place perhaps) at 4pm. Enya felt fine, she said, haha.

๐Ÿ˜… Assuming Enya stayed up until 9:30am and that's 2:30 and 4 in the afternoon, that is impressive..!

That really does sound fascinating! It does seem quite a big task to have that done, but it's still possible in future. :disco: Maybe renovate an abandoned hotel (see what's happening/what happened to Ostan Gweedore ๐Ÿชด๐Ÿคฏ)
Nearer to Leo's Tavern, they do have Meenaleck Glamping for people to stay over, and the natural surroundings are quite beautiful anyway in Gweedore ๐Ÿž๏ธ๐Ÿ˜

Somewhere I read that some footage can be played on request there, and plenty to view on the walls of the tavern, that's for sure ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ“€๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŒ

This event (where Enya was last publicly photographed) was a year ago today (26th May)
๐Ÿ’กI wonder how things are a year on? :D๐ŸŽถ

I recall that Leo's had a copy of this old German doc:

Apparently, they had it first on VHS then later on DVD. You could watch it if you went there and asked. Until it became readily available on Youtube in early 2021, that doc had near-mythical status, LOL. A handful of people had a copy, but wouldn't share anything but some screenshots. Happily, it's now readily available so all can enjoy seeing young Eithne with her long hair! ๐Ÿ˜

If they have any other gems, I'm not aware of it. I wish they would start showing some Brennan family home movies, I'd have to dust off my passport, lol.

Planning to visit rainy beautiful County Donegal? In particular, the Gweedore area that Enya/Clannad/Moya Brennan hail from? Here's a "glamping" option for you.

Be sure to request pod number 4 ("Orinoco Flow") or pod number 5 ("Only Time"): Meenaleck Glamping

It's conveniently located within easy staggering walking distance of Leo's Tavern! In fact, it's right next to Leo's, so getting to bed after a beer or twelve will be easy. ๐Ÿป

My research shows Meenaleck Glamping is owned by Bartley Brennan (Enya's youngest brother and the owner of Leo's Tavern) and his wife Mary Ferry. ๐Ÿค“

Disney TT, since you're going to Uni in the UK, can you get access to this 2013 dissertation about Enya? ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŽ“ ๐Ÿ™ I for one would love to read it!

A little more about Holly Kirby and Enya:

I recently discovered an international database of musical works. It includes a number of songs written by Enya (Eithne) that have not been released. Many I've never heard of. Some list her alone as the writer; sometimes Nicky and Roma are also credited.

https://iswcnet.cisac.org/

"The International Standard Musical Work Code ("ISWC") is a unique, permanent and internationally recognized reference number for the identification of musical works."

Unfortunately, the listings are undated, so I don't know if the unfamiliar songs are new or many years old. Also, many are only registered with the PRS in the UK, which does not have a database open to the public, so I can't get more clues that way.

They don't seem to be songs that simply sample Enya, as there are no other writers listed. There have long been unreleased songs listed in publishing databases. Some have long been thought to be pieces used in The Celts (other than the released songs). But this database has a lot more of them.

I'd love to think some of them are new songs, but they could all be decades old. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

Here are the songs...
Title [writers] (my comments)

Findings using IP Name Number 00135046991 (Brennan Eithne Patricia)

Irish Recorded Music Awards
[Eithne and Nicky] (The March 9 1986 Sunday Independent reported that Enya and John Masterson would compose the โ€œsignature musicโ€ for the Milk Music Awards show. Elsewhere, Iโ€™ve seen it said that she did music for the Irish Recorded Music Awards (IRMA), ~1988. Iโ€™ve often wondered if those were the same thing. However, this listing does not mention Masterson.)

Deserted House [Eithne and Nicky] (T-010.268.531-3) (This is one of two listings of a work by this title. This time, Roma is not credited. This listing mentions JASRAC, the Japanese publishing rights organization, in addition to PRS.)

Seaside [trio] (Expanding the listing reveals a variation on the title: โ€œSeaside Ditty.โ€ Listing includes PRS, JASRAC (Japan), and SUISA (Switzerland). It also lists an โ€œarchivedโ€ ISWC of T-010.245.082-7)

Deserted House [trio] (T-010.312.701-0) (One of two listings of a work by this title. This time itโ€™s credited to the trio. PRS only in this listing.)

Neolithic Man [trio] (T-010.312.702-1. One of two listings of a work by this name; the other is by Eithne and Nicky. PRS only.)

Irish Piece [trio] (T-010.312.703-2) (One of two listings of a work by this title. Expanding the listing reveals a variation on the title: โ€œIlish Piece.โ€ PRS and JASRAC, the Japanese publishing rights organization.)

Feast Dance [trio] (PRS only, with two different โ€œagency work codes.โ€)

Severed Heads [trio] (This listing mentions JASRAC, the Japanese publishing rights organization, in addition to PRS.)

The Fight [trio] (PRS only. Presumably different to โ€œFightโ€, which has a different PRS work code.)

Morrigan and Cernunnos [trio] (Expanding the listing reveals a variation on the title: โ€œMorrigan and Cernunnons.โ€ Morrigan and Cernunnos are figures in Celtic mythology. PRS only.)

From the Summer House [Eithne] (PRS only.)

Museum Piece [Eithne] (PRS only.)

Waulking Song Opening Music [trio] (Expanding the listing reveals a variation on the title: โ€œWaulking Song.โ€ In turn, โ€œWaulking Songโ€ appears as another title for โ€œCelts I Want Tomorrowโ€, T-010.312.696-0. See ~44:30 in part 4 of the Celts. The women are singing a waulking song. But I always assumed what they were singing is a traditional tune, not something the trio wrote. PRS only.)

Irish Piece [Eithne and Nicky] (T-010.604.397-3) (One of two listings of a work by this title. PRS only this time.)

Enya [Eithne and Nicky] (An eponymous song? PRS only.)

Neolithic Man [Eithne and Nicky] (T-010.800.529-3. One of two listings of a work by this name; the other is by the trio. PRS only.)

Prince [Eithne] (Expanding the listing reveals another title: โ€œEntre Deux Men.โ€ PRS only.)

Antaibhse Vaignehch [Eithne] (Irish for โ€œThe Lonely Ghostโ€, but should be spelled An Taibhse Uaigneach; she has said in interviews (namely, the 2016 Reddit AMA) that this is the very first song she ever wrote.)

Eagle and the Wren [Eithne] (PRS only)

Fight [trio] (PRS only. Presumably different to โ€œThe Fightโ€, which has a different PRS work code.)

Waves [Eithne] (PRS only.)

Bog Man [trio] (PRS only.)

Third Man [trio] (PRS only.)

Music Box Horror [trio] (Expanding the listing reveals a variation on the title: โ€œMusicbox Horror.โ€ PRS only.)

Go Deo [trio] (Irish for โ€œforever.โ€ PRS only.)

After the Dance [trio] (PRS only.)

Arthurian Legend [trio] (PRS only.)

Prince Medea [trio] (PRS only.)

Aigle Music Black Box Income [trio] (Expanding the listing reveals several variations on the title: EITHNE NI BHRAONAIN BLACK BOX INCOME, ENYA BLACK BOX INCOME, NICKY RYAN BLACK BOX INCOME, and ROMA RYAN BLACK BOX INCOME. PRS only. The surprising explanation of the "black box" is here: https://support.tunecore.com/hc/en-...he-Black-Box-and-what-are-Black-Box-Royalties NB: as of June 2023) Aigle Music Ltd in Ireland has not filed any required documents since January 2020.)

Greencard [trio] (PRS only. โ€œStorms in Africaโ€ was used in the movie Green Card and on the trailer. The version on the trailer (as much as it can be heard around the dialogue) sounds like an edit of SIA. Or, possibly there was an unique version of the song on the actual movie soundtrack?)

Over Scarecrow [Eithne and Nicky] (PRS only. Probably instrumental music used in The Celts series; see part 2, ~6:45.)

Story of Boadicea [trio] (T-900.233.372-4. Opening the listing reveals many variations on the title Boadicea, plus songs that sampled it and the many performing rights societies involved with the many uses of this song. So, likely not a separate work.)

Chant de lโ€™Enfant [Eithne, โ€œENJALBERT HENRI, SALMON OLIVIER RAYMOND ROGERโ€] (In addition to PRS, the ISWC listing mentions SABAM, which is a Belgian publishing rights organization. Henri Enjalbert was a French professor of Geography! Thereโ€™s a guitarist named Olivier Salmon. There are multiple Roger Raymonds in the music world.)

Liiga Kiire [Eithne, Roma, โ€œSHERIPOV STENโ€] (Samples Caribbean Blue: https://youtu.be/qlYAtT7tcPU )

Up Tempo [Eithne] (This has been in the ASCAP database since at least 1999. But no one seems to have figured out what it is.)

En mi Soledad [Eithne and Nicky] (While there are many songs by this title in the BMI/ASCAP catalogs, none list any of the trio as writers. Eithne and Nicky are credited on this video, but itโ€™s well out of their usual genre, and I donโ€™t hear any Enya samples: https://youtu.be/L0jgsC66BQo The only other clue in the ISWC database is the mention of BUMA, which is a Dutch publishing rights organization.)

Fade Away [trio] (Sample of Orinoco Flow; trio is credited here: https://youtu.be/cmgbfKG6MSg )

==============================================================================

Findings using IP Name Number 00135074002 (Ni-Bhraonain Eith)

Here Comes Desire
[trio] (Possibly another early or working title for Aniron? Or something completely different? Many different performing rights organizations are listed, including PRS, BMI, and ASCAP. So it seems as if it was recorded and released, but I canโ€™t find it, and no performers are listed by BMI.)

Sirenes [trio] (Good olโ€™ Sirenes! This was spotted in the BMI database (BMI Work ID 1349671) in 1999 or even earlier. We still donโ€™t know what this is. This (ISWC) listing shows only PRS; the BMI database doesnโ€™t have the ISWC number. So apparently not everything is fully reconciled.)

Itinerary [Eithne, โ€œSMALL DARYL ANTHONYโ€] (PRS only. Looks like a sample; presumably itโ€™s this, which samples Orinoco Flow (โ€œItineraryโ€ by Thundizzle, 2018). You can hear the sample in the first few seconds: https://open.spotify.com/track/5HPbGqe23hIMUesNn4Cd6V?si=987d3d79c12d4bfb or https://soundcloud.com/thundizzlebeats/itinerary?si=389a98e93f8340618937122f0a177458&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing )

Frodo [trio] (T-316.685.948-5 Another working title? Or simply an alternate title for May It Be? Itโ€™s among the many titles listed for May It Be at listing T-010.014.787-2. PRS only)

Fading [trio] (Rihanna infamously sampled โ€œOne by Oneโ€ (apparently without permission) for this track: https://youtu.be/u7pphNWccnQ )

If you want to look at these yourself, here are step-by-step directions:

Go to https://iswcnet.cisac.org/ (Desktop/laptop recommended)

Solve the Captcha, Agree to the terms, and select your language.

Once you're in, click on "by Creator." Enter 00135046991 in the Creator IP Name Number(s) box then click Search.

The search takes some time so be patient.

Once the results come up, I like to sort by โ€œPreferred ISWCโ€ (lowest to highest). Without sorting, the results seem to come up in a random order (and if you run the search again, the order is different).

You can also search using code 00135074002, which is another code for her and pulls up some different results.

Nice discovery! ๐ŸŽถ

I had a look on the database too, more or less these but without sorting for either code.

In short, I think these are all old pieces, mostly for The Celts documentary.

Musicbox Horror is definitely the working title for this very out-of-genre Enya piece...! :ghost:

I searched the En Mi Soledad rumba piece, and it lists a different composer, not by Enya (see this)

What if the piece Sirenes was an idea for Paint The Sky With Stars? ๐Ÿ˜ƒ:disco:

:enya:

Some of them no doubt are. But there weren't that many bits of music (other than the known, released songs) in there.

Definitely? How do you know that? Where does that piece appear in The Celts?

I forgot, you're (apparently) doing everything on a phone. On a desktop/laptop, if you expand the description of the video I linked, this information appears:

En Mi Soledad ((Rumba / 25 Bpm)) ยท Ballroom Orchestra & Singers

Amor Latino

โ„— 2009 Dancelife

Released on: 2009-09-17

Composer: Enya/Ryan

Music Publisher: EMI Songs Limited

๐Ÿค” I'm not, I do use a laptop a lot (it's mainly photos, some screenshots and a few PDF downloads on a phone). The site I found was via a search on a laptop.
I did expand the video description, but there is a chance of there being mistakes with composers, songs etc.. (Like Orinoco Flow being mistaken by the copyright detector as Caribbean Blue,) ๐Ÿ’ก

Definitely? How do you know that? Where does that piece appear in The Celts?
Telepathy :disco: ๐Ÿ˜†

By listening to the piece one can pick up the 'horror theme' at the beginning, followed by the out-of-tune 'music box', and join the dots
It likely appears in some episode of the Celts documentary, and these are some of those 'unreleased Celts pieces' (Fairytale II is at around 8 mins :) )

Actually, I think I've figured out what "Music Box Horror" is.

This listing in a different database pointed me to a performer: https://portal.themlc.com/catalog/work/893172938

Orgel Sound J-Pop has recorded covers performed as if by a music box. Some examples:

Boadica:
Aniron:
And, for Di's birthday, Watermark:

I'll leave it to the listener to decide if these are music box horrors, lol.

They're okay, though I have found better music box covers in the original key on YouTube.
Do you have an opinion on the Don Pelletier remixes of Enya's music? It gets a bit samey with those beats, but I like some of his reworks. A full remixed Dark Sky Island album?
I knew The Bangles and Walk Like An Egyptian before but thanks anyway ๐Ÿ˜„
Perhaps something for the speculation thread instead - I think Enya's more of a Cheeky Girls fan, according to this Tweet:D

Oh look, another tease that Enya is making new music:
Singer, songwriter, and musician Enya came in second on the top 10 Irish female musicians list. Born in Gweedore, she rose to fame due to her unusual sound and mixing of genres to create a unique music style. It's been reported that the 62-year-old is currently working on new music.
Apparently it's too much trouble for IrishCentral.com to credit their source.

The article contains a link to the original source for the rankings. But here's how they put it:
It has been rumoured that she will be working on new music in the near future, so keep your ears peeled!

There's going to be a watch party video for 35 years of Watermark! ๐Ÿ˜ ๐ŸŽผ๐ŸŽจ

There was some beautiful scenery, true ๐Ÿ˜Š ๐Ÿž๏ธ๐ŸŒค๏ธ
Other than that, and the album's music itself,
:eyes: Some of the official videos were stretched out, and this is a fan upload made to look official; they used it in the watch party. ๐Ÿค” They didn't use the Storms In Africa official music video for the English version either, but maybe that was a good thing considering the first point. ๐Ÿ˜…
It used fragments of an interview from 2000 (which is nice, but Enya's mentioned Watermark in nearly every album 'era' since - they could've featured something more recent, if not her interviews from 1988-89). The same interview appears (plus behind-the-scenes) in their much better first YouTube"watch party" for A Day Without Rain (unlisted, 2020).
Most notably, today's watch party lacked notes from the trio. :(
Hopefully, it's a sign that they're too busy with the new album  Still unsure whether it's going to be released this year or next, but sure it'll be either one. ๐Ÿค— ๐ŸŽผ๐Ÿ’

Check enya.com ๐Ÿช„

Another Enya fan (who might be joining Moopy next year ๐Ÿ˜Š) mentioned that the Enya website is back (not the Warner redirect, actually back!) ๐Ÿคฉ
Enya's thrilled to see her website back again ๐Ÿ˜

I wonder if the new album colour theme will also consist of this orange? :D :disco:

The watch party video was sub-standard, to say the least. As I pointed out elsewhere, why would it be rushed? The anniversary is a fixed date, and all the studio albums have their respective anniversaries at this time of year.

To reiterate another point, AFAIK Warner is doing the social media, not anyone involved with the trio. So even if they were in the studio, that would have no impact on these SM activities. Warner are managing Enya as a legacy act, and putting forth minimal effort.

BTW, I thought Richard claimed the album had to be done in May if it's to be released in November? (I know that's not true, but somehow he's seen as an authority, to the point one fan stated that he had "announced the new album.")

Extended commentary on the "watch party" here: Link
