Euphoria (HBO drama)

So I enjoyed the newest episode, especially the end dance scene, but I’m kind of bored of Cassie and Nate. Like I want to see more of Jules and Maddy and Kat

. Oh and Lexi and Cassie's mother is hilarious.
yes!!! She’s one of the best minor characters. And such a realistic depiction of that kind of person. I feel like I knew a few people in high school who’s mothers were like that

also I want fezco and Lexi to be together even though it’s not that realistic

I just started season 2 (I think the two specials put me off as I kept meaning to watch them but I didn’t really want to so I just decided to skip).

So many dicks.

the Gina Gershon lookalike (looking at her IMDb I also mistook her for Gina in The Irishman) they got to play the grandma was fabulous.

There are rumours going around that Kat was meant to have an eating disorder storyline this season, but the actress refused and had a blazing row with the exec producer and was given nothing to do as punishment

Dunno if that’s how tv works really but she has been rather absent! :eyes:

I don't think its how tv usually works (based on nothing) but I've heard that the cast has more say than in normal in this shows (Syndney Sweeney asking for less nudity and Hunter Schafer helping write Jules' storylines and her special)

This season Kat just seems to follow quietly in Maddy's wake. The limited stuff she has got to do has been quite dreadful, like that weird break up with her star of the stage boyfriend.

I thought that scene was hilarious :D

we all have that one friend who will fake a brain tumor to get out of something (in my case it's myself)

So I’m now all caught up and ready for the finale tonight. I had forgotten most of season 1 cause it was so long ago. A few thought:

  • It is generally a bad show. It’s entertaining as hell but also this season nothing really happened other than Ru’s story everyone somehow feels like a background character.
  • Episode 5 was the best, especially those first 15 minutes.
  • There’s just too much voice over and montages. They do the opposite of what tv should be, it’s mostly tell and no show.
  • I really hate Lexi (more after the play). She’s so annoying and that play was so smug.
  • Sydney Sweeny is going to be such a star.
  • I also hated the backstory for Nate’s dad, it was like a cheap soft core porn. Also why is the gay bar out of Brokeback Mountain?

This tweet sums up my feelings about the finale (I already knew but still)

But seriously, you have a show staked with all those interesting characters and actresses and you focus on the most boring one.

Poor Jules has been reduced to nothing, she’s just the typical love interest to the main character. She has no arc other than being Ru’s girl.

I really hated the finale. This is not a show to be binged, you need the weeks to pass so you can overlook the huge flaws.

I loved hearing Kylie Minogue in the Euphoria finale :disco:

I liked it more than @Phoenix, but I wish it had been... better. There were some individual scenes I loved (Lexi and Rue talking at the end, Fez’s final scene) but it didn’t all come together that well. Elliot’s song was pretty mediocre and went on for so long...

are you talking about Lexi? I love her (I relate to her a little) but I get why she’d be seen this way.

I wish there had been more of Maddy and Kat in the last few episodes. They’re two of my favorites and they were barely in them

I started the season liking her but the play really rubbed me the wrong way and I hate that her story next season will probably be the goody two shoes with the drug dealer lover in jail. I’m team Cassie.

Yeah Cassie has been acting shitty towards her friends and family all season, but writing a play about people you know, not telling them it’s about them, and then inviting them to the premier is a bit fucked. And including the carousel scene is :D

Was this the season finale? I didn’t notice until Ru’s final words. I’d say that was a very disappointing ending to such a great season. The play should have ended last episode, the format of jumping between play and reality didn’t work as well this time.

Poor Fez :( but I’m kind of glad they managed to kill Baga Chips in the end because he made things worse.

I agree that there has been far too little of Jules in the season.

The episode peaked early with Rue's reaction when she caught Cassie steaming up the window :D

The Fez stuff was very tense but agree Lexie's play jumped the shark this week. A verse of Elliott's song would have been more than sufficient, and I need to never see any more scenes from Rue's father's funeral. More of the Cassie and Maddy aftermath would have been nice but I enjoyed what we got.

Kat is OUT of the next season

I guess all those rumours of fights with the creator on set were true

The third season which was due to start shooting soon has apprently been CANCELLED

I never watched past episode 1 of season two because that gave me a PANIC ATTACK. Does seem like this would be increasingly impossible to produce as all the cast are such huge stars now, though presumably they were optioned for several seasons at the start?

God, t was bound to be awful without Angus and Barbie, not to mention they're all be nearly 30 by the time they premiere it!

as for this one, we all know she's set for life; what a gag that she can afford all of this with a handful of acting credits whereas the other girls, Zendaya, Sydney, Hunter, etc keep hustling nonstop.
