Can someone explain to me in Traditional Homosexual (a Eurovision analogy) what the fuck is this football news and why everyone is in a flap about it please?

It's like if Sweden, Russia and Azerbaijan decided that they were much better than all of the other countries, so they would have their own competition where they had four entries each, with one or two other countries invited at their discretion. The new competition takes all of the money, royally screwing over everyone who isn't already vastly rich and powerful.
 
I thought about posting on here about the football thing but then quickly realised it would be a silly idea.
 
Yes this football thing is boring as shit isn't it? I suppose I should pretend to care since Mr Kate is a Chelsea fan.

Yes, indeed. We lost about four Moopylites during the period when admin were doing the recent upgrades.

As someone with a functional knowledge of football, I presumed they were all leaving their respective home leagues, which I could have understood the outrage. However it's IN ADDITIONAL. So they can all SHUT UP.
 
Is it though? I read they were set to be booted out of the Premier League if they go ahead. Fuck knows.

What they've done is, I believe, technically against Premier League rules so they should be booted out but they're basically leveraging what their departure would do to income from television rights etc and shrugging their shoulders. It's all a bit "nice football league you've got here...be a shame in anything happened to it...".

I think it’s more the fact that it’s becoming increasingly more expensive to support their teams by either travelling to attend matches regularly or even ordering the channels that broadcast the matches? Plus unlike the Champions League there wouldn’t be a chance to qualify to play in it through achievement, instead just getting the richest teams involved.

Is that right? Kind of like the extortionate cost of going to see a mainstream band on an arena tour, which fans just put up with and the ticket
prices keep on increasing so long as people are willing to buy them.

I have a Manchester United share certificate on the wall in front of me. It's illegal now and I was supposed to send it back because the share was compulsorarily (?) purchased (but it was a prezzy so I decided they could FRO) when they took ownership OUT of fans' hands.
 
Does anyone really want me to get into a working class rant about this football thing? It's deep, and a bit of a straw breaking the camels back kind of issue, in that modern football is fucking rotten to the core and this is just taking the piss.

I have never seen anything like the way that straights have gone mental about this news. :D It's genuinely like watching another species.

Sorry couldn't decide whether to put this in sport or current affairs, as I guess it's both. But WHAT A TO-DO. :D
 
It might be the first time in recent memory that Bojo, Starmer and Ed Davey have ALL agreed on something and got upset about it unanimously. Fuck me. It's bizarre.
