Eurovision 2024: Rehearsal Week (1 Viewer)

Tbh I don't really like how everyone seams to be DROWNED under backing vocals. I don't mind it when it's meant to allow the performer to dance, but here it's even used with supposedly big voices like Albania and Latvia...

Yeah I found Iceland STRIKING insomuch as you could noticeably HEAR HER VOICE and the backing vocals were only used as, well, backing vocals.

It is fairly rare Sweden changes from MF and I often wonder why. It always feels a bit stale by that point.

It really strikes me how much Unforgettable sounds like the sort of stuff Michael Jackson would be releasing if he was still alive today

Those dancers might be a bit of a distraction.

High praise indeed!

I am not sure this is a change for the better from San Remo. It worked cause she could focus on selling it and it was authentic.

Considering Greece and Italy are so similar musically, Greece feels much more modern (despite the fact she’s 14 years older than ANGE MONGE)

The competition feels very open seeing as none of the favourites have really delivered game-changing staging.

I do feel the points will be all over the place this year and the spread of points between the winner and 7th place will be relatively narrow. If ever there’s a year for a SHOCK winner it’s this one.

Why is Finland's clip the start of the song before anything really happens?

God, I'd forgotten how obnoxious that performance is. Can't the winged bloke have an X Factor style intervention and ditch the oh so HILARIOUS Windows man? (Speaking of which, what is the joke there please? Is it just supposed to be random and wacky? :gross:)

It's a shame because I really like the song if you listen to it separately, which is what I had been doing on Spotify, entirely forgetting that it involved this. It reeks of straight man laughs at silly Eurovision and sadly I'm quite happy for it to fuck off if that's the case (and even if it's not, the "joke" is so OFF it can fuck off anyway)

Bambie going full on theatrical performance is winning me over - I hope the whole thing is the same as that "song" would thrive on it

Portugal absolutely magnificent :disco: I'll be so upset if that fails.

I can't work out if Slovenia is divine or just off key shrieking.

Luxembourg looks rather basic to me, it would help if she danced more. The opposite to Cyprus who has worse vocals but at least throws herself around a bit, yet they'll have to do all the work to qualify...

Italy might look better in full but yeah that doesn't seem...ideal. Sad because I really love the song.

I like the idea of France in theory, but that prolonged CROAK of a voice sounds awful to these ears, the last thing it needs is to remove the music :D

The French gimmick didn't sound great at the pre-parties so I'm surprised they're sticking with it.

Stick, kudos to them for a genuine new gimmick of standing nowhere near the microphone and shouting. Unless you count Zhana from Equinox.

Oh and I feel much more HEARTENED by the UK now. That looks quite the standout to make me convinced it can escape bottom 5 at least, though Mr RoM thought it all a bit crude :D I sort of get that, I'm not sure some lightweight gay porn fantasy will be to everyone's taste, but more importantly it just looks like a really polished pop video come to life so hopefully that will win out.

Yes for the second time in two years I'm excited by the UK package :ken: . It's an unsettling feeling.

Makes slightly more sense than Rylan hosting the preview video clips.

I can kind of see where Italy are coming from, because this is a song that does require more production than it had at Sanremo (which was the sum total of nothing), but I feel like they've clipped her wings slightly with this. What made this stand out was her stage presence and star quality and I get the sense she's a little too choreographed here and it just becomes yet another girl singing a pop song with a troupe of dancers.

This sums it up for me.
