Eurovision 2024: Rehearsal Week (2 Viewers)

Apparently Netherlands’ graphics were not ‘ready’ for their rehearsal so presumably something is being held back for the show.

Well I don’t believe this anymore and I fear it will be just a big disappointment. Never promise things you can’t deliver.

My takeaway from the show tonight is that I can see pretty much any combination of the entrants qualifying, except Albania. It’s definitely the more balanced semi.
 
Well I am grinning from ear to ear after that spectacle :disco: And so is Mr RoM, and he never lowers himself to smiling. First time at Eurovision and it was such a joyous rush - despite being a rehearsal it felt exactly like the real thing.

The interval was absolute GOLD. Perfect Sweden, perfectly tongue in cheek and genuinely funny. Thank fuck we went to this one and not the Ingrosso horror :D
 
Some meaningless thoughts on tonight...

I thought Czechia came across really well, the whole package seemed elevated and the vocals pretty good, I'd say she has as much of a chance as anyone in this to get through which I'd never thought before this

Not a fan of the Netherlands but it did seem to get everyone going, the opening graphic certainly grabbed your attention, after that not so much, but if the graphics are being held back he's only going to increase his chances. It did pop off and the ending kind of worked well, better than expected. I wish it no great success whatsoever but there's no way this isn't doing well and fighting for the win.

Slightly less convinced by Switzerland now. Great vocals and I love the song, but I don’t think the staging works like they think it does, especially some of the camera angles, and that's before you get onto the outfit...
 
Italy - Love it so much, but this still loses something I fear. It really should have been just her on stage - the dancers add nothing for me. Hoping to be wrong and couldn't see the full on-TV effect as the screen kept blacking out

France felt like it hit BIG. It's a boring song and I haven't liked his voice much but it actually worked tonight. If the public get onside this could be a worry :D

Armenia, San Marino and Estonia were great fun - the former especially really shone for me and I haven't been a fan previously.

Belgium - shouty and unpleasant. And then he got to sing AGAIN due to a technical error or something (being shouty and unpleasant presumably), thank fuck I needed a wee and a beer at that point

Georgia had wonderful vocals and singed everyone's eyebrows off, but I worry it's a bit kitchen sink for most people

The total non reaction for anything Latvia related was a bit :D/:(

Finally, Sarah Bonnici has won Eurovision
 
Oh and SAAAAND getting huge cheers and support throughout was funny and baffling, until I remembered Denmark was round the corner

We said the same, except swapping Albania out for Latvia

It really feels like they've all got a chance here though
