Oh, are they still going?! I presumed they'd probably split up a while back.
BBC Sound of really isn't great at actually identifying the next hot thing anymore, is it? I presume this is basically being thrown out to satisfy a contract before dropping them.

Pretty much since streaming blew up in 2016, bbc sound of winner has been way off the mark most years. Jury is still out on Last Dinner Party's success, but apart from that only Sigrid and Pink Panthress have had a sniff of chart action. Calling them the sound of their respective years would be a huge stretch.

I think Last Dinner Party count as a success. They're clearly more of an albums band and they seem to have actually made a mark, which is more than you can say for most of the winners post-Years and Years.

So the album did go in at #3, but in typical 2024 style it was out of the top 100 the next week.
They belatedly cropped up on Graham Norton on Friday, so maybe that'll squeeze out a few more sales. I didn't think much of the song, but nice vocals, beautiful vocals.
