Holby City DEAD

My Mum will be sad. I'm not sure that anyone else in the world will be.

It's one of those things that I'll watch 10 minutes of if my recording of something else overruns and I can't be arsed to get up and switch it off.

I watched one season back around 02/03 when one of the actresses fell off a balcony and they wrote her out saying she'd won the lottery and was living it up somewhere lovely. :eyes:

These days it seemed to always be on when I was flicking and there was a slew of hot gays but my interest was never piqued.

RIP Holby, thnks fr th mmrs.

Where will all ex-soap stars go when they can't get any other mainstream work?

Although I swear when you look up any British actor who made it big in Hollywood, about 90% of them have their first screen credit in Casualty, Holby or The Bill.

I'm not an active watcher, but for the past little while I've occasionally left it on after EastEnders and have been surprised at how actually QUITE GOOD it's been.

My sister’s just been weeping about this. She watches Casualty, Grey’s Anatomy AND Doctors as well! How much medical drama does anybody need!

She should probably train to be a nurse. Or break her legs often.

As a genre medical dramas leave me cold. Mr L watches a few (although none of the UK ones), and the only one I could imagine being tempted by on the little I have seen is New Amsterdam.

I dip in and out of Casualty. I think I have about 20 episodes recorded that I have never get around to watching. Never watched an episode of Holby City, but I do remember noticing on the TV guide that it was shown at strange times of 11.30 pm at some point.

I wonder if they'll replace it with anything? This could be a good time for River City to finally go UK-wide, particularly with the upcoming return of Queen Roisin to bring in the viewers :disco:

It’ll be A Song for Skin, where Andrew Lloyd-Webber and some less shit people go on a transatlantic voyage to find the perfect Eurovision song for Skin off the Skunk Anansie.

Considering prime time BBC 1 is currently being used for Fawlty Towers repeats on Mondays, I wouldn’t bank on it. They’ll probably just go full on UK Gold and show Only Fools and Horses on a loop instead. Next it’ll be Allo Allo, Hi-De-Hi and Dad’s Army.

It's a fictional place anyway isn't it? Surely they could just shove a few references to Splott and Pant Y Wacco in, give that woman who plays Stacey's mum in Gavin and Stacey a role as a receptionist and job done?

What an odd cancellation. The geography angle doesn’t really stack up seeing as it is in a made up city. Is it supposed to be in any particular region?

Maybe this time they actually CAN float out over the audience (which turned out to be a vicious rumour as we know).

I'm not sure what I'm basing this on (probably a half-remembered forum post somewhere from 10+ years ago) but I think when Casualty first started Holby was meant to be near Birmingham, then later it mysteriously shifted to being close to Bristol and Bath instead (and both shows are currently based in Cardiff, production-wise). @Star or any other big fans to corroborate absolutely any of this please :D

I saw a message from Rosie who plays Jac Naylor saying she didn't know about this! I always assumed she would come back

I could never tell the difference between this and Casualty.
:D That’s because it was the SAME PROGRAMME. They just did a different beginning and wrote another theme tune to save on draining the BBC budget :)

NO-ONE NOTICED :disco:
