One of the biggest downsides of this removal is that I used to use the likes list of someone of this parish as a go to source of PORN and now I need to TRAWL THROUGH THE DEPTHS myself :evil:

I don't really give a fuck about Elon Musk or what he thinks because he's clearly deranged and that kind of thinking doesn't take up any space in my head, but it's the power and influence he wields that truly scares me.

All of this is because of his obsession with his bloodline being superior. One of his children is not going to reproduce and he finds that a personal affront. That he is feeding into the worst narratives doesn't bother him in the slightest. He is a white supremacist and this is just another manifestation of that.
 
He's obviously very dumb and very stupid and he's going down the fash hole very quickly, hopefully the more deranged he gets the more damage he does to his stock and the business calamities come in thick and fast.
 
The problem is everyone keeps using twitter. He came in and absolutely pillaged a platform that was already quite toxic, but was trying hard to navigate the the way it was being exploited. He got rid of all the efforts to turn things around, sacked a LOT of people, reinstated a lot of banned people and is using the site exactly as predicted - as his own personal mouthpiece.

It's truly dystopian, and yet, everyone, even progressive people, keep using it. Revolutions are hard to administer, but the world had a rare chance to execute its own soft power by rejecting X and making him the world's biggest tech failure.

But no, the world keeps spinning and we sleepwalk into oblivion... :shesstartin:
 
You're right. I held on for the stuff that was good for me but he's just too much. I've deleted my account.
 
In a rare moment of principle I also deleted my account last year - off the back of Elon doubling down on the transphobia, and the rebranding of the site to 'X' - and it struck me VERY QUICKLY how less angry about the world I suddenly became. It really was cooking my brain.

And now I spend my internet time posting on the gay chat lounge Moopy instead :disco:

The state of Twitter has been even worse since the assassination attempt/Biden stepping down.
 
Sadly, when the President of the US uses the platform to announce major news directly to the public, it is too relevant a platform for me to give up entirely.

Unfortunately it’s still a fairly important source of news and information for us. as well as traffic. I deleted the app when musk took over but still have to bob on using my desktop.
 
Every social media platform is horrible BUT Twitter is where most major news drops good or bad. Bluesky is just nudity and boredom. Facebook is middle aged nonsense. TikTok gives me a headache. Instagram is just for pics.
 
I deleted the facebook app even longer ago and just go on using a browser. Its dire now. Constant pages and groups I’m not in and mostly have no intention of being in. And I get recommended some sort of right wing bullshit at least once a week. I only stay on it for family now.
 
I only use Instagram to communicate about my work, and even that only at specific moments. In fact the only site I go to regularly is here hehe

It seems easier to avoid the toxicity on Instagram as opposed to X and Facebook. Tik Tok is nightmarish
 
I agree about Twitter as a news source but, ultimately, so is the Daily Telegraph and I live without that. I do feel a wee bit sad but I miss what it was, before it was X. That's gone anyway.
 
I don't really have a choice, and lets not talk about the fact we have to pay for a fucking tick just so people read our shit.
