To me she’s not. I think she can easily back it all up with her talent. She’s made some excellent music over the last couple of decades and has proven over and over she’s a definite force of nature in the music industry.

I wouldn't say overrated because I think people do honestly rate her very highly, but she just doesn't really do much for me. She's obviously very talented, but I find her voice a bit beige and I find her more miss than hit when it comes to the actual music.

For some it might depend on whether you're talking about her talent or her discography.

I still say either way, absolutely not.

She's good, but she's marketed herself as something much greater. And vapid gays (including some here) eat it all up.

I have absolutely no love for anything she’s done in the last 10 years. Seen her live 3 times and she was excellent but again, not since 2010 and have no desire to see her again.

Can’t deny the performing talent, but personally the legacy of her actual music standing up over time… is questionable. Then again, these days we’re all stuck in our own bubbles and hardly anything is universal on the same scale as it used to be.

Not at all, but her last two albums have been disappointingly average.

no. her last two albums are her best and her artistry is through the roof. NEXT!

She's an amazing live performer, but everything else, especially the actual albums, have never quite hit home for me.

I don’t really listen to her much, but I do respect that she’s managed to burnish her status as an icon without in any way deferring to what a mainstream (aka white) audience would probably prefer to hear from her.

So in that sense I don’t think she’s overrated at all. I’m just not the core demographic she’s making music for these days, and that’s absolutely fine. More power to her.

Probably where I am. Incredible talent but never been that taken by the end product. Ava Max brings me significantly more joy!

I think she's fucking AWFUL, sorry.

ETA: Also her fanbase is absolutely fucking NUTS. I once had the misfortune of stumbling into a room hosting some sort of 'Beyhive' CONVENTION (yes these things exist) and when I was inevitably outed as a nonbeliever I swear they came *this* close to tearing my flesh apart with THEIR BARE HANDS Sebastian Venable-style!! I have had countless near-death experiences over the years but this might have been the most SCARRING (likely due to the sheer indignity of being taken down by a maniacal gaggle of Beyoncé devotees-cum-Viking BERSERKERS dear fucking god). When it comes to the two most widespread cultural afflictions of the current age, I will take the comparatively innocuous Swifties thank u next.

Love this take. After the most calculated, cynical, hit-oriented first decade of her career, the gear shift into "this is what I want to do, and you will eat (or not)" is wonderful.

That she continues to make her very best music so late into her career is remarkable. That she's given us stuff like AMERIICAN REQUIEM, BODYGUARD, VIRGO'S GROOVE, PURE/HONEY 20-25 years deep is incredible.

"Guess who's jealous of ADELE?!"

"BEYONCÉ!"

Beverley Knight, Mary J. Blige and Alicia Keys all have better voices than Beyonce, and much better songs - yet they don't get anywhere near the same level of accolade.

Beverley Knight maybe but - and even as a fan of Blige and Keys - Beyoncé blows the other two out of the water and into smithereens

I sent my sister a Beyoncé meme the other day (because she hates her, don’t ask I think it’s an attention thing) and she replied “is she even relevant anymore” suggesting a Beyoncé meme is a bit passé

I was like, she had one of the biggest songs and albums of 2024 and she’s just sold out another world tour.

I wonder, what more does the woman have to do to convince the detractors that, whether you like her music or not, she is still absolutely killing it almost 30 years later?

Presumably, pander to middle aged white people.

Sorry but I just can't take to Beyonce's voice at all. I don't even think it was the best one in Destiny's Child.

LOL @ funky's sister thinking she's the arbiter of who's relevant. Is she charli xcx?

And Beyoncé's voice continues to improve (unlike, say, Alicia Keys, who has been a patchy singer since the mid-00s). Some of Bey's latter-day vocal performances (eg. Daughter) demonstrate how she has unlocked its potential and suffered very little vocal degradation post 40.

I think she just does it cause she thinks it winds me up. It might if it was true!

whether you’re a fan or not, a person with Beyoncé’s level of talent is not overrated.

I’m trying to think of a person who may be more talented than her and honestly… I’m struggling.
