That's surprising and sad, she surely was only around late 60's, early 70's. I don't recall her being involved in the Neighbours finale or revival in any way so perhaps she's been ill

72. Apparently she attended some Prisoner convention in Birmingham in December. From the conversation in a Prisoner Facebook group, it doesn't look like any illness was common knowledge.

72 seems like no age to go these days.
I don't actually know or remember her from Prisoner, but for Neighbours she's one of the most memorable faces for me.

Definitely one of the most iconic characters - particularly from her period where there weren't so many of them.

That's sad to hear. Lynn Scully was such a Neighbours icon. Classic soap trope sending a passive woman into revenge driven storylines.

That's sad, I don't know why I'm surprised she was in her 70s given she was playing a middle-aged character 25 years ago but.
Maybe that explains the Neighbours finale absence. She'd made plenty of returns prior to that, so it seemed strange that she skipped the big one.
She really CAMPED up in her later stints. Her last one was ludicrous.

This is sad news - Lyn was a true icon of Neighbours. Shit and annoying for much of the time, but that was the character - our Janet played her brilliantly.

I feel like Irene looked so hardened and rough when she joined that as the years went on, they made her a bit more glam and it appeared she never really aged, as she looked aged when she started
