Kelly Clarkson - Chemistry (10th Album) / Me / Mine (1 Viewer)

Did you mean

The Meaning of Life

or

Wrapped In Red

or

When Christmas Comes Around?

Queen has given so many choices of what constitutes The Other One(s)

:eyes:
The FIRST ONE. I'm using the rule of VoR and not including the Christmas ones. Wrapped in Red would go above Breakway and below Chemistry (TBD) though, and the other one is a ?? at the moment sorry Kells.

Is this the first good Kelly Clarkson song in a decade!?

"Red Flag Collector" out tomorrow. Do we have half the album now? Might just wait until the full thing is out in two weeks.

Red Flag Collector is probably the best of the bunch so far. Though the intro is entirely misleading (thank GOD).

This has l**ked. "Down to You" is supposed to be a "should've been lead single" moment. I'm interested in hearing the ballads as those tend to be my preferred KC tracks.

The singles haven't really connected IMO, "Mine" came the closest.

The most bizarre roll out. half the album was already released and this new one just a few days before the full album. haven't listened to the last two.

"chemistry" (the title track) is beautiful. the rest sounds a little... generic but i will persist.

Maybe if she hadn’t tagged Kelly’s label it would be more believable (it wouldn’t) 🥴

Projected to debut with 40-50k in the US - may be enough for the top 5. Could've been worse given the non-existent streaming (no songs charted top 200 on spotify).

It probably won't make the top ten in the UK but neither did Meaning of Life.

UK midweek sales

10 Kelly Clarkson - chemistry (2,167) *

She was great as usual on WWHL

Talking about J-Lo or Mariah in response to first question? :o

This morning I woke up and chose ME

Where's @dUb to join in on the backing vocal harmonies? :disco:

I haven't even listened to this in full. I cherry picked several songs and was disappointed in the production on every one, and some of the lyrics are super trite and basic. it feels phoned-in.

Oh, the odd track here and there is fine but the full thing is - unfortunately - a slog and a half. It's a shame that her pipes get paired with so much half-baked stuff in terms of original material.

It’s a perfectly pleasant if somewhat boring album, there are some nice songs but nothing really jumps out and it sort of blends into one. I’m going for a long drive later, it’ll be perfect for that but unlikely something I return to much/ever

I felt about it this way initially, and still somewhat disappointed. But the middle section ("Chemistry" to "Rock Hudson") and "That's Right" are revealing their charms to me the most.

Ended up at #34 in the UK (Hot shot debut :side-eye: )
Oh that is pretty dreadful. But I guess, in context, that result 20 years after her American TV contest show debut isn't AWFUL. I feel like she will still have some comeback potential in her, especially with her profile and christmas stuff.

Even her last album, which got virtually no attention/promotion over here that I recall, managed #11, so that is definitely not a great result.

She is eying a #5 debut in America with 54k units (44k pure sales).

Carrie Underwood's last album opened with 31k (22k pure sales) for comparison...

Her profile in the US though, with the chat show is still really high I guess though, so she doesn't have to do too much in the way of promo there. I'd say the viral clips we get here do help her but yes, not much more than that, I'd say most people wouldn't know she had an albam out in the UK...

I know it goes without saying but her voice is so crisp and elastic right now, it's really in wonderful shape and this performance of Already Gone (!) in Vegas this weekend is just exquisite

an all-time fave, she's really treating the fans with the setlist of this tour. she's pulled out Don't Let Me Stop You a couple of times too.

it's all just so... effortless for her. (not sure what in the Stevie Nicks is going on with the outfit but I LIKE IT!)

Don't Let Me Stop you has always been Top 5 Kelly for me, what a SONG :disco: I'm so happy for this.

though the first few seconds of her recalling if the song's from "2004-2005 I dunno" is a bit of a kii, it's FROM 2009 OK?

Deluxe version coming September 22nd!

15. i won't give up
16. did you know
17. you don't make me cry (feat. River Rose)

One of the re-release tracks, "Roses", was released to streaming today:

deluxe is out, with all the fanfare you'd expect from the most promotion-phobic record label out there

somebody must hate her. anyway, goodbye is good! but I haven't revisited this album at all, it's just so far below what she's capable of.
