Liam Payne DEAD (1 Viewer)

Was it a single? I stopped following their career after about the first 18 months.

I guess it's got some emotional resonance with the FANZ.
It got to #7 in 2014 and spent 12 weeks in the top 40 but it completely passed me by. I guess it's more appropriate than Best Song Ever.

Before we get onto 'he was a nice guy' vs 'he was unpleasant', both things can be true.

His flaws don't seem so extreme, that people should need to pore over the details in great detail and equally don't need to argue that he was an angel, which I suspect is about to happen.
That's what the internet does. I'm not defending any of it but "engagement" is the only metric anyone seems to accept and the extreme opinions drive the most engagement so we'll have this pointless "hero or villain" stuff played out again and again. Meanwhile some poor kid who is barely in school has lost his dad.

Just listening now, it's quite nice.

Some of the lyrics, are quite appropriate.

According to Wiki, it’s their most streamed song with 1.7b listens.

Looking at their wiki, it is quite jarring at how they just churned out albums. I think they were on their 3rd album within 2 years of What Makes You Beautiful first being released.

I’ve always loved Night Changes. Is it from that Four album? I liked that whole album

I should be amazed that anyone here followed their career until the end, but there always seemed to be ongoing interest in them.

For me, we had Little Mix, who the fuck needs five/ four twinks singing Ed Sheeran songs?

Well, quite.

Plus when they broke up we got great music from Zayn and Harry, so it all worked out well (musically at least)

I feel like I quite easily could name five 1D singles without prompting, but the five I have in my head has surprisingly little crossover with the OCC’s list of their official biggest hits.

I've actually been finding it really hard to eat my truffle mustard since he died :(
I was on my high horse reading this thread, and then I laughed out loud at this joke :/

I think Night Changes is their best song, and I think it probably connects to the general public more than their other songs

Night Changes makes sense as the song that have blown up in the wake of this... especially because of that lyrics on that hook that went TikTok-viral:

"We're only getting older, baby
And I've been thinking about it lately
Does it ever drive you crazy
Just how fast the night changes?"

Also "Story Of My Life" based on the title alone...

Heartbreaking reason Liam Payne was ‘quietly dropped’ from record label days before his tragic death: https://www.da!lymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-13976655/Liam-Payne-dropped-record-label.html

"Unfortunately, part of the decision was motivated by all of the memes and jokes people made about him online. His team saw that as a sign to jump ship."

Night Changes is one of my favourites. Very popular on Tiktok for a few years now.

Thank you for editing the link so we're all able to access the quality journalism. :)

What a surprise, the Daily Fail.

Current reports suggesting there’s CCTV showing him fainting while on the balcony, which is supposedly why he fell. :(

It's tragic however it happened. I think we should wait for more than 'reports suggest' , in any case.

I’m getting a SLAP ON THE WRIST for mentioning something that’s in the papers? Ok

Who said that? I've no problem personally with it being posted - I'm just not inclined to necessarily believe it yet.

After @dUb exhibited his powers in a different thread, I would never dare to question him.

I read something similar the other day re fainting. Something to do with a natural reflex not being on display (or something) 🤷‍♂️

His behaviour was pretty erratic before, wasn't it? Perhaps he wasn't sitting nicely on the balcony.

I wonder if he'd possibly taken something which could have lowered his blood pressure and caused a faint.

I've been in enough drug induced states to know how easy it is to pass out, if only for a second or two. If someone was in a dangerous position when this happened (such as perched on a balcony railing) then the results could be catastrophic.

The fact that the emergency call from the hotel specifically mentioned the balcony being a high risk, suggests he may have been out there in a dangerous position for a while :(

Yeah it sounds likely then that he was sat on the edge and then collapsed.

Was he not trashing his hotel room before he headed out to the balcony? I’m sure the initial call to emergency services was because he was trashing the room and he was intoxicated which in turn made them worried that his room was at a height and had a balcony? Who knows. It’s absolutely awful regardless.
