Love Island 2023 (Summer Edition)

The girls and boys from Casa this year are such an upgrade on the Winter season.

I never understand why when someone recouples that they say they are still open? It’s like having your cake and eating it.

So who is watching? I have finally caught up with it all and must say the MOLLY RETURN was quite the master stroke even though she has just ran straight back in to Zach’s arms.
I was!

Who would have thought Montel/Leah (Montel's action at Casa aside  ) would be the only couple to stick? :D

I know. What the HELL. I think Sammy still only has eyes for Jess but didn’t want egg on his face if she walked back in with someone else.

I felt so bad for him too, his speech was so lovely and heartfelt, only for it to be null when Ella walked in with Ouzi. :(

I can see why Ella chose Ouzi as he is older, and more experienced and they are both from Scotland so no long distance relationship BUT she is now making out she is still interested in Tyrique? Don’t be daft, love. You made your bed now lie in it.

Absolutely! It wasn't such a good look either on how she was the one being insistent on them being closed off (after Tyrique being flirty with Leah/Catherine) when he honored it only for her to do that.

You guys have lost the PLOT.

Tyrique is such a disrespectful twat (as is Sammy, incidentally). The way he was carrying on about "get lipsing" to the other boys; he shows no respect towards women whatsoever.

Ouzy is a trade-up for Ella in EVERY RESPECT. Although I do agree that her taking him back and then crying over Tyrique was DAFT. If you re-couple in Casa, at least feign some conviction in your choice, rather than just changing your mind as soon as you walk back in.

Oh I didn’t see that with Tyrique ( I possibly did but have crammed every episode in over the past week so possibly wasn’t giving it my full attention) but do agree that Sammy doesn’t come across well the majority of the time. They are very immature, but both are very young still. I think Ella DID push for them both to be exclusive though, so for her then to couple up with someone else it speaks volumes about her morals too.

Not only that but to then come back and say she is still interested in Tyrique. Very much a case of having her cake and eating it.

Exactly. This is just Tanya/Martin/Shaq and Lana/Casey/Ron all over again.

Catherine hasn't come out of this well at all, but at least she made a choice and stuck by it when she reentered. I'm not entirely sure why Ella took Ouzy back at all.

Catherine’s snipe at Scott when he said it wasn’t him that wasn’t in to her it was the other way round was a tad out of order considering he stuck by her and she came back with someone else. :D

Exactly!

Didn’t Luca do this last year and people went nuts over it - Ty seems to be getting a bit of a free pass this year in comparison (until movie night I hope!)

Yes, the viewing public were very much up in arms about it, and I believe someone else did it in the season before whose name escapes me. As you say it will all come out in the wash on movie night.

Yes!! I couldn’t remember the name of the other person either. Apparently movie night is being filmed today (so Sundays episode?)
🍿 💣💥

Jake. I think he basically started this whole narrative (which happens every year now) of someone in Casa staying loyal but egging on the other lads. I do, however, think Tyrique and Sammy were the worst it's been. I think Tyrique has a really toxic personality; he definitely thrives on being a ringleader. Montel would not have kissed or done "non-PG stuff" with poor tragic Tink, and while he is ultimately responsible for his actions, Tyrique's (unnecessary) exasperation definitely pushed him.

I get that Tyrique is immature. I just also think he's got a really nasty side to him when it comes to the way he talks about women. It's almost a bit incel; he projected Ella's re-coupling as an attack on all women as being untrustworthy and justifying why he behaves the way he does.

The thing that most stuck out to me last night was when she spoke to Ouzy, despite the situation, she looked genuinely happy. He makes her smile.

When she’s with Tyrique, she rarely - if ever - looks that way. Ideally, they’d both be happy. But nothing about this says that comes from being with each other.

Plus a Tyrique/Kady coupling would give so much chaotic energy.

She isn’t giving Ouzy anything and if she does start gravitating more towards him after tonight’s Tyrique and Kady antics then she is only trying to make Tyrique jealous. I agree she probably would be better off with Ouzy but would say she only really has eyes for Tyrique. She was ready to ditch Ouzy altogether until Jess said not to, and then went to Ouzy and made out like she was interested in him before trying to kiss Tyrique not long after. What the FUCK?

The kiss thing was weird. But I also think Tyrique hugging her, clutching her face and basically saying "it's over" was next level manipulation. They both bring out the worst in each other. It's a toxic relationship and has been from the start.

I felt the conversation between Ouzy and Ella had genuine warmth. She's clearly trying to tread sensitively and weigh up her options (which sort of is the point of the game). It's literally the only time she smiled; and I think Ella is one of those people whose smile changes her whole appearance.

Yes, but it is one million percent never going to go the way that your head clearly wants it to. Ella and Ouzy won’t happen (never watched tonight’s yet). It SHOULD but it won’t.

I genuinely felt for Jess on last nights episode. I really don’t get what she sees in Sammy.

Catherine needs to CALM DOWN and look at it from Scotts point of view but I’m not sure he done himself any favours in yesterdays episode either…

Really? Catherine AND Leah were getting dragged on social media. Leah's comment to Scott ("None of the girls were interested in him") did not go down well. Neither did her subsequent denial (five minutes later) that she'd said it.

I am pleased. He has been acting impeccably and I thought when he fought back yesterday at Leah people may start to sympathise with Catherine when she clearly doesn’t have a leg to stand on.

I think Catherine has blown any chance she had at getting to the final. It wasn't even really about re-coupling; just the complete absence of any contrition whatsoever. I suspect she thinks she's pretty safe from the public vote by virtue of being close to Whitney and Ella. But I really wouldn't be surprised to see her in the bottom three of the next vote.

One million percent. I didn’t have an issue with her re-coupling if she felt she had a better connection with Elom but the way she has acted since she came back has been appalling. She has shown no remorse whatsoever and instead has tried to turn it round and make out like it’s Scott’s fault and he is in the wrong.

Whitney is my favourite female by a country mile, and I want her to win.

Not watching regularly, but saw a bit last night, and Well that new Scottish Ouzie or Ozzie is quite easy on the eye, isn't he.

I always feel a bit perverted commenting on the young men but yes, he is easily the best looking.

Wednesday's elimination was VERY SATISFYING. If she had shown some a bit of humility and respect to Scott about the Casa situation, instead of trying to make out Scott as the villain in a situation he clearly wasn't, I think Catherine might have stayed a bit longer. She squanded all the good-will towards her instead and she deserved to go on how she handled it all.

I suspect Leah & Montel will be the other couple going if it's the public deciding but (unfortunately) fear it could it being Kady & Ouzy leaving if it's the other contestants who choose.

I loved every second of that Catherine eviction, and no doubt when she comes out she will blame her actions on the editing. 😴

Why were Ella and Tyrique not in the bottom? Ella has shown herself up to be a bit of a bitch.

I suspect it's partially cause of Ella's friendship with Whitney, partially due to a demographic liking "bad boys" archetypes nevermind outright demeaning behaviour. :eyes:

I'd wager Ella is still more popular than Tyrique. However questionable some of her behaviour has been, he is not hugely liked.

Scott is very popular. I'd say it's possible with the right bombshell, he has the potential to win. Catherine and Leah are there because they got on the wrong side of Scott's fanbase (plus Leah and Montel are bit players elevated to leading roles. There's just nothing about them whatsoever). Sammy and Jess are there, I suspect because Jess isn't popular enough to compensate for how disliked Sammy is. And, I guess, Kady and Ouzy are fairly redundant.

I don’t see why Ella is still popular, and don’t find her likeable at all. I think they are favourites to win though, not that I think that means much at the moment.

I didn’t realise Scott was so popular, and am glad as Catherine treated him terribly when she came back from Casa Amor BUT Ella’s actions were just as questionable, and it has showed she is quite a bitch watching the Movie Night footage so I have no idea why people still like her.

The situation is regarded as being different because Catherine treated Scott terribly and in the grand scheme of things, he was a pretty good guy to her.

Tyrique isn't a nice guy. He messed Ella around for weeks and while he stayed loyal during Casa, he still behaves (and speaks) like an immature prat. So, I suspect Ella's actions are - rightly or wrongly - seen as more defensible than Catherine's.
