Love Island 2023 (Summer Edition) (1 Viewer)

Whoever casted the second Ella deserves a raise :D Neither Tyrique or either of Ellas is really coming off well in this scenario though.

Josh seems nice enough so far, it's a shame Jess seems committed to sticking it out to the end with Sammy.

I agree with the casting! The bombshells towards the end of the series often come in knowing there's nothing to lose, but Ella seems intent on stirring up trouble. The Ella vs. Ella preview of tomorrow night's episode looks like a scene from EastEnders.

I think the person who came off worst is Abi, though. She's been happily getting to know Scott in front of Mitch but is having a right old sulk now he's chatting with someone else. The girls were clearly having NONE OF IT, mind. Jess pawing clumsily at Abi on the day bed and aimlessly placating her whinging was :D

Yeah it was a bad showing for Abi. And her getting annoyed that Mitch didn't hug her as well was something so minor that shouldn't have been a point. :D

Poor Amber being basically floating around at this point for whichever guy is not coupled up. :( :D

Amber strikes me as being completely out of her depth.

I'm not sure she needs to be quite so mindful of her "brand" as Gemma was last year (Dennis Wise isn't quite Michael Owen in football terms) but that probably is going to factor into how she presents herself. But Gemma seemed to go in with a much more mature head on her shoulders and a clearer idea of what she wanted to achieve. Amber, by comparison, is literally just making up the numbers.

I think it's quite interesting the show hasn't yet done anything to capitalise on Scott's popularity. He needs a bombshell pretty quickly, but that was never going to be Ella.

Ella 2 is such a good addition.

The girls really are giving Abi's tantrums short shrift, and rightly so. This is easily the most entertaining the show has been for weeks (excluding Casa Amor).

What is wrong with these girls that they feel like they can play the men like puppets? We all would love to do that loves, but most of us have a thing called SELF RESPECT and RESPECT FOR OTHERS.

Absolutely thrilled for Whitney and Lochan coming 1st in tonight's vote. Hope the momentum and public support carries them to a win. :disco:

The dumpings were probably right. Would've preferred Jess & Sammie being in the bottom 3 (entirely due to Sammie moreso) but glad other Ella is getting a chance to stick around. :disco: Tyrique & Ella are probably a lock for the Final.

Tomorrow episode looks it's going to be fire. :D

The ‘decision’ to send Kady and Ouzy home felt entirely producer-led, so it seems a bit shit that Whitney and Lochan have to go back and defend a choice they probably didn’t get to make.

I just don’t think Lochan would’ve chosen Mitch over Ouzy, nor is there a sense Whitney feels strongly enough towards Mitch either way. There’s no logic in how they reached that decision of their own accord. It’s blatantly been driven by how much screen time the couples have had.

I agree, unless KD (is that her name?) did that much damage among the girls - she's so utterly fake to half of them, I couldn't decide whether I wanted to keep her or Ella B as they're both fantastic antagonists. It's been a good season even if absolutely none of the couples seem like they will last. Molly's smile of jealousy and cluelessness to Whitney and Lach was delicious - the self-image maneuvering is a lot more sophisticated than Mitch's, but I absolutely see why they were first paired up. I've also enjoyed Abbey ignoring every bit of correct advice given from her increasingly bored audience - I don't think Scott was any victim at all with Catherine and the robotic dialogue and body language all acted out just to accelerate a "connection" all the while Abbey laughs and smiles loud enough for Mitch to see was a huge cringe. Ouzy was gorgeous, but my god was he dull - I did enjoy the Edinburgh and Glasgow accents being heard together. Sammy is gross - he really did love having this once and once only opportunity of thinking multiple girls were after him. I forget the names already, but I secretly hoped that ousted Casa girl had been kept even longer as they were starting to look like weird one night stands who hadn't gone back to their own accommodation and the complete lack of screen time or anyone being interested just made their seemingly never ending presence all the more fun. The guy was the most generic Essex type imaginable - the trance like nodding whilst receiving bad news probably the only incline of personality. I hope I've covered everyone. No one that memorable and no real couples for me, but I've enjoyed it even if I think it probably ought to finish this week (without the babies episode thank you) rather than next.

One million percent. Lochan and Ouzy were really close in there I thought, and both came from Casa Amor so would have had more of an allegiance to each other than Whitney would have ever had with Mitch.

Saying that I don’t think Kady and Ouzy are a genuine couple on Kady’s part anyway. Kady has successful career outside Love Island so was quite shocked she went back in the first place but I suppose this will boost her profile and probably bring more £££ her way.

Abi is definitely sinking Scott's chances at winning. :D But is making for great OBSESSED EX TV. :disco:

Other Ella came off better in the last episode than Abi and Mitch. Abi should obviously be focussing on her relation with Scott instead of fixating on Mitch's coupling but Mitch hasn't really helped himself either with acknowledging his past history.

By the usual standard of social media-savvy Islanders, Mitch comes across as very naive and it makes for much better television.

Compared to, say, Tyrique who ran Toby's social media when he did series 7 and thus knows precisely which buttons to press and when in terms of trying to create a Love Island "story", Mitch's experience feels messier and more authentic to how someone his age would likely behave in real life. He's not horrible, just desperate to impress the boys and jumps in with both feet every time someone shows him interest.

Was anyone else watching the final last night? I didn’t expect those winners at all.
I didn't expect it either! I would like to think it was more a vote in support of Jess who was mostly lovely then her partner who really shouldn't have been awarded for acting the way he did most of the show. It's too bad Whitney & Lochan fumbled/lost support towards the end, I was really hoping it would be them but I acknowledge Whitney didn't come off welll with the arguments she had with Ella as well as Zach towards the end that were unnecccessary and being involved in more drama, which definitely soured some of the goodwill that had built up towards her I think would have pushed her towards winning.

I switched off immediately after it went to the creep and the doormat in a bikini. Absolutely none of those couples will last the distance and Tyrique is quite horrible I've decided - Ella blinded by her own narcissism really did not make for pleasant viewing when they were at it. I did like Whitney and would have went for Lochan too. However, her sister was such a scene stealer with her far from necessary grilling style :disco:

It wasn't a bad season, but they need a bigger pool of singles as the couples we ended up with had absolutely nothing going for them.
