Excellent dead eyed banger from Mabel that sounds like another major hit

weirdly it's been tacked onto the album so it's not the lead for a new project, which is a shame as it's absolutely strong enough

video is premiering now.

i've been going a bit off her and from the snippet i think this track will continue the trend.

I think she probably needs a new artistic director to take charge. Her styling and videos feel a bit "local". I'm really into the song though, I think it's really strong and just enough of a departure from the tropi-pop of Don't Call / Mad Love.

This is a bit of a banger.

Now imagine this was the UKs Eurovision entry :disco:

Is sounding like she's singing the n-word intentional? :bruised:

Someone on PJ I think put it rather well when they said she looks like an actress playing a pop star in a TV show

yes this does bang a bit. but not the kind of stuff she needs to catapult her into Dua Lipa levels of stardom
unless that's not what she wants of course :)

i kinda measure them against each other as well for some reason. i guess i see them as top tier material though dua is doing much better. mabel really needs to step her game up - she's really started to descend into disposable territory. even a new stylist would help.

I know it is probably not a helpful or fair comparison that neither would want but I can't help but hold her up against her mum. Just watching Neneh's performances of Buffalo Stance on TOTP recently, and she is so exciting and interesting.

Completely agree about the presentation not helping, it is obviously youth-focused but does come off a bit cheap. To be fair she hits the mark more often than not for a pop thrill so perhaps this is a bit harsh...

oh i'm certainly cheering for her but you cannot deny the change from my boy my town and thinking of you to this (or that absolute trash collaboration she did with some rubbish dj recently). i get that they're marketing her as a big pop star but she looked and felt more authentic before.

sidebar: the wow-i'm-so-cool-my-hair-is-a-crazy-colour trend is fuck awful.
