I’ve often wondered who their producer Rolf Soja was and surprise surprise, he turns out to be German. Never a nationality to think of a new musical idea when a slight rework of an old one will do

I wondered the same thing. According to Wikipedia Maria was a Baccara original and in the 80s New Baccara but not in MF Baccara.
