Part four in my occasional review of chain eateries and we get to the most infamous of all... Maccies.

I feel like they've lost a bit of their stigma down the years, now that some over chains have become just as, if not more ubiquitous.

Also their sweet chilli chicken wrap is fucking amazing.

I haven't been for ages, but I can slip into very bad habits of almost daily visits.

I know it's objectively terrible, but I do love a McDonalds lunch of a Monday. (I eat very healthily the rest of the week which hopefully somewhat offsets it)

I don't think of it. It's there, I have no reason to go in. I can remember when it first appeared and my grandparents took us there as they thought it was GLAMOROUS as they'd seen them on their visits to the US of A. The only time it's ever come in handy was in an EMERGENCY in BERLIN when I couldn't face anymore disasters with EISBEIN and KEBAP

It's been years since I've been. Until mid-2011, I worked in an office where this was the only option within a reasonable radius if one didn't want to pay 4.50 for a sandwich in the "canteen". I always found it weirdly substantial but very over-salted. No idea if that's still true or even limited to that one branch.

Always preferred Burger King. But it's been even longer since I set foot in one of those.

McLove it, I go to one of the HIGH TECH ordering machines and remove the meat from a cheeseburger, then stuff fries into it for a super healthy dining experience

And I wonder why people tell me “wow, you don’t LOOK like a vegetarian!”

We had one of the first high tech branches in the UK. They have been smashed numerous times, such is the nature of my overpopulated town circa 2018 and being open 24 hours and opposite the towns largest nightclub.

This last year I've been going probably about once a fortnight. It's very handy for a late lunch on a Wednesday, although it's only laziness stopping me walking another 50m for an alternative.

I think being able to order and pay without talking to anyone was a real game changer for me. It feels much less shameful now.

Ha ha yes. It's less revolting than having to have a conversation with one of the greasy toothless staff. Plus you can change your order with no exasperated looks and a series of super British apologies.

And now that it’s available on UberEats I may never have to face another branch, or my own impending heart attack

McD in Japan was great. very affordable and the McChicken, which I always get, was actually crispy. I rarely go here, as octy I'm more of a Burger Queen

If they started doing something with mac(aroni) and cheese, what would they call it? McAroni or McMacaroni?

I was just looking for the picture I took in Maccys a few years ago, when a woman came in wearing her wedding dress, seemingly straight after the ceremony. Everyone was AGOG.

I think I've had McDonald's 5 or 6 times in my life, I always go for Burger King.

I avoided it for about ten years (apart from the coffee which I found surprisingly good for the price), but for the past few months it's turned into a post-pub treat once every couple of weeks.

Do you want to delete that before someone quotes it, VoR?

I like an occasional one

Sometimes a double sausage and egg McMuffin at work on a Saturday is a treat

And BRING BACK THE MCRIB

LOVE it! I'd say I eat there on average about 3 times a month, usually during the weekend after a drunk night out. Which is the best remedy if you ask me.

I can really only eat one thing from there so it’s not a frequent thing but fuck me if nothing else quite cures a hangover like McDonalds

:o They have ordering machines now? This is BRAND NEW INFORMATION and I will have to find one and try it before I vote

Generally though I go once about every 3 years for post-drinking nuggets and fries

Yes like giant iPads, they're quite efficient.

I don’t mind it but personal don’t like the food. It annoys me that it gets the worst press in the world and is the focal point of everything bad when there’s plenty of other places just as terrible...

Burgers are bland and shit, the volume of sauce they use to cover it up is ridiculous.

Breakfast however is amazing when slightly hungover :D
Hash browns in particular.

I think they're great. The prices, the taste, the order time, the convenience. The only fast food I enjoy more is KFC :disco:

It's fucking revolting, but i've had some rather serendipitous moments inhaling 20 chicken McNuggets on the 243.

the 20 nuggets team box has brought me many a resurrection indeed. curry sauce is essential, then comes sweet and sour. bbq is vile

Oh now I always have BBQ sauce for my chips on the massively rare occasion I’m in McDonald’s.

Do they do mayonnaise yet? It always annoyed me they didn’t...

How are people only just discovering the ordering screens? I first encountered them in Barcelona in 2010 and I think we've had them in Leeds for a good five years.

I love a McDonald's, once a fortnight usually. It's the cheese bites on the side with that rich tomato dip that do it for me. Their fries PISS all over Burger King's which are tasteless solid sticks of starch. Give me a limp skinny oily fry any day.
