Last week, Jason Derulo's creepy uncle and wet'n'wild Wiktoria stormed into the finals, while the Swedish public continued to collectively shove pins into their Anna Bergendahl voodoo dolls by forcing her to endure a coach trip to Nyköping with Nano for Andra Chansen, where she will inevitably be knocked out by - POSSIBLY BY ONE OF THESE ARTISTS.

1. Andreas Johnson - Army of Love
(Andreas Johnson, Jimmy Jansson, Sara Ryan, Andreas ”Stone” Johansson, Sebastian Thott)

The people around you
won't tell you how it is
Don't you think it's gone on long enough?
Take a look at yourself
Get out of the car
You know it's time
you've got to let it go
It's gone

2. Malou - I Do Me
(Isa Tengblad, Elvira Anderfjärd, Fanny Arnesson, Adéle Cechal)

Aged just 15, there are almost certainly contestants in this semi final with cardigans older than Malou. A relative newcomer to the music scene, her song is written by ISA, of Don't Stop semi-fame. Despite the title and the fact that it was co-written by somebody called Fanny, chances are this will be fairly wholesome stuff.

3. Oscar Ernestad - I Love It
(Emanuel Abrahamsson, Parker James, Oscar Enestad)
OscarEnestad-999x562.jpg

Oscar is the first of two members of FO&O to go solo this year. He absolutely has the more interesting back story. Oscar is 21 and currently dating a 48 year old woman. Apparently this song is about that. Expect lyrical references to attending Michael Buble concerts and having one glass of wine before bed, two if you're feeling naughty.

4. Jan Malmsjö - Leva Livet

(Anderz Wrethov, Elin Wrethov, Johan Bejerholm)
JanMalmsjo-999x562.jpg

86 year old Jan Malmsjö is 86 years old and turned up to the official photoshoot in a cardigan, bless him. He's a bit of a legend of Swedish stage and screen, and previously came second in Melodifestivalen 1969 with the classic Hej Clown, a jolly ditty written by a pre-ABBA Benny Andersson. Because he's a man, well liked and cute old rather than gross old, he probably has a fair chance of qualifying in some form. That songwriting team isn't the kind to fuck around.

5. Vlad Reiser - Nakna i regnet
(Lukas Nathansson, John Hårleman, Vlad Reiser, Chris Enberg)
VladReiser-999x562.jpg

Vlad is one of those YouTubers. His most popular video is 12 minutes long and involves him fingering a balloon filled with Coca Cola. It has been viewed 1.4 million times. This is likely to be a shouty comedy number in a Samir och Viktor/De vet du style. If anyone from this heat is going to send Anna Bergendahl packing in AC, it'll be this guy.

6. Hanna Ferm & LIAMOO - Hold You
(Jimmy Jansson, Fredrik Sonefors, Hanna Ferm, Liam Pablito Cacatian Thomassen)
HannaFermLIAMOO-999x562.jpg

LIAMOO was one of the hot pre-contest favourites last year, but Sweden wasn't quite ready for his sick beatz, and he ended up a bit of an also-ran. Drafting in fellow Swedish Idol alum Hanna Ferm, this is likely to be more palatable fare and could do very well indeed.

7. Margaret - Tempo
(Anderz Wrethov, Jimmy Jansson, Laurell Barker, Sebastian von Koenigsegg)
Margaret-999x562.jpg

Polish pop sensation Margaret became the first international artist in ages to reach the Melfest finals last year. She got a Swedish top ten hit out of it, and she'd quite like another one - moreso than she actually wants to go to Eurovision by all accounts. This is likely to be a banger, but will Sweden vote local and force her to go via Andra Chansen again? I suspect yes.

With a song title like I Do Me and the writer of cunnilingus anthem Don't Stop, I'm 90% certain Malou's entry will be about wanking.

Hanna Ferm had my favourite song of all of 2018. Really hope LIAMOO doesn't ruin it like last year's entry.

Apparently he won't be rapping and it's not too dissimilar to noted NATURAL BRAND PARTNERSHIP Zayn & Sia - Dusk Till Dawn

Which is FINE BY ME

Kikki has been moaning in Aftonbladet about the standard of the songs in recent years. Also;

During the first competition of the Melodifestivalen 2019, Kikki Danielsson was in Gothenburg to watch everything live.

The decision to attend made her miss another program on television that she would have liked to see.

"I missed about 1.5 hours of" Midsomer Murders "because I forgot to check if the program could be watched again on my TV!! Of course, it wasn't on again this evening. I could easily watch and see which ones qualified in Mello, but who was the murderer in Midsomer and why must I continue to live in uncertainty?

:D

Not sure my darling LIAMOO has a strong enough song on his hands there. Tempo is good though! Overall, seems better than last week.

I’m actually on board with LIAMOO, it sounds like a winner to me. Margaret and Jan are great and I LOVE poor doomed Andreas’ effort. The other three are faceless filler tat but still a much better semi than last week.

Based on the snippets Andreas and LIAMOO have the strongest songs in this heat.

Andreas sounds like he may be more competitive this time around. The lyrics for I Love It are certainly ON THE NOSE.

Dress Rehearsal audience poll

1. Hanna Ferm & Liamoo - Hold You 425
2. Andreas Johnson - Army of Us 204
3. Margaret - Tempo 166
4. Vlad Reiser - Nakna i Regnet 111
5. Malou Prytz - I Do Me 96
6. Oscar Enestad - I Love It 36
7. Jan Malmsjö - Leva Livet 26

Hanna & Liamoo and Margater performed twice.

That came top two in the exit poll?!

I thought it was going to have a bit more oomph from the clip. Those trousers were an interesting choice.

It was basic but she absolutely killed it on stage. She will be back on the MF stage in the future, of that I am sure.

I quite liked Malou. Oscar was dreadful and the lyrics ridiculous but I enjoyed it anyway.

This one is giving me Freaks man from last night doing ropey Swedish R&B.

The dancing. :D

Hold You would be a much better song had it just been Hanna

I thought her vocals were great

I liked the 'Don't let me down...' parts but the second verse on his own was not great.

Hanna's dress wasn't the best but what was the thinking with Margaret's?! Good performance though.

Also, I was fully primed to DETEST Vlad on account of him being a Youtuber. I actually quite like him, he seems to be getting into the spirit of it all, at least.

OMG!!!! That is probably the biggest shock I have EVER seen at an MF semi. In a positive way though! She did NOT expect that!
