For 2023 I would like:

- CAZZI OPEIA
- Tone Sekelius
- Theoz
- Danny Saucedo (in FULL sellout Tokyo mode)
- Klara Hammarström (in FULL glittered battle regalia + tits out mode)
- Tusse (uncompetitive)
- Sonja Aldén (competitive)
- Mariette
- Hanna Ferm
- Myra Granberg
- Wiktoria
- DOLLY STYLE
- Jon-Henrik Fjällgren AND/OR Aninia
- Sigrid Bernson
- Renaida
- Samir & Viktor (we have waited LONG ENOUGH)
- DINAH NAH
- ACE WILDER (DON'T CARE IF SHE'S RETIRED)
- LOREEN
- ETZIA
- THE NICOLE

What about the GRAND RETURN of PETRA NIELSEN? I heard whispers of "Foxtrot, Foxtrot" by G:son and Kindblom :o

On the basis of nothing, I predict this year’s obligatory doomed schlager boilers will be PERNILLA WAHLGREN and ANNA BOOK

Would give my left ARSECHEEK for a new "Jag Vill Om Du Vågar" and "Himmel för två" (and subsequent SCHLAGERFIASKOT).

Melodifestivalen is better with a little bit of WAHLGREN desparation, mad glint in the eye as an added bonus.

Pernilla pitches her latest girlgroup featuring her Insta-famous spawn...

Absolutely YES to Etzia.

Preferably with a team that don't stitch her up something rotten.

More (good) groups would be welcome, so certainly a return of Alcazar. I do fear a return of the ever so 'umble Anders Bagge.

Absolutely yes to Cazzi and Tone, no to Anna (because that is a Bengtzing waiting to happen now).

Anders did helpfully rule out ever entering again as an artist, thank god

Lisa Miskovsky understood to have retorted 'what's Melodfestivalen?' when questioned about 2023 possibilities

Show Me Heaven still being ABSENT from Spotify is pure HOMOPHOBIA.

This is prime time for collaborations and writing camps as producers tries to secure good people to sing on the demos. Some artist might post stuff from the studio on social media so if anyone happen to see a grinning Wrethov in the corner of an Instagram post you'll know what they're up to.

SVT is on a slow burn over the summer. Most of their efforts are focused on planning the show and structural changes at this stage but of course they're also gauging interest among artists and songwriters.

Entries are accepted from August 27 so we'll start to hear some leaks around that time. The rumour mill will pick up for real at the end of September or early October.

Haven't heard any rumors yet. SVT should be inviting Faith, Cazzi, Theoz and Tone back, but other than them it's pretty slim pickings from last year.

I don't believe Tone is in a hurry to come back. Since winning this year she's risen to national icon status and similar to Sanna Nielsen landed several lucrative presenter jobs.

Sanna on the other hand has expressed an intention to focus more on her music in the upcoming year. A return next year or perhaps for the 10 year anniversary in 2024 could be in the cards.

50's/60's
1959 Siw Malmkvist - Unlikely but still touring. Was considering a Mello comeback 5 years ago as part of a trio with AL Hansson
1959 Brita Borg - Dead
1960 Östen Warnerbring/Inger Berggren - Both dead
1961 Siw Malmkvist/Gunnar Wiklund - Gunnar dead
1961 Lill-Babs - Dead
1962 Inger Berggren/Lily Berglund - Both dead
1963 Monica Zetterlund/Carli Tornehave - Zetterlund dead. Carlii is still touring but is not a big name anymore, it's unlikely SVT would want him
1965 Ingvar Wixell/Absent Friends - Dead
1966 Lill Lindfors & Svante Thuresson - Svante dead. SVT doesn't want Lill L after her latest fiasco
1967 Östen Warnerbring - Dead
1968 Claes-Göran Hederström - Sent in a song 2 years ago, wasn't selected
1969 Tommy Körberg - Likely to come back at some point

70's/80's
1971 Family Four - Mostly dead
1972 Family Four - Mostly dead
1973 Claes af Geijerstam & Göran Fristorp - CaG is a producer/presenter nowadays. GT is battling cancer but still touring, unlikely
1974 ABBA - Booked for concerts in London through 2026
1975 Lasse Berghagen - Unlikely though still touring
1977 Forbes - Disbanded in 2015
1978 Björn Skifs - Possibly as he's still touring. Doesn't need it and more likely as an interval act.
1979 Ted Gärdestad - Dead
1980 Tomas Ledin - Very unlikely as anything other than an interval act, he's one of Sweden's biggest artists
1981 Björn Skifs - See above
1982 Chips - Elisabeth is not out of the question. Tania is semi-retired. For Holm and Kikki see below
1983 Carola Häggkvist - Has been close to returning a few times since 2008 so what's keeping her? She's still traumatized by her last experience and very afraid of sparking a new media witch hunt. Carola doesn't need Mello but it's not exactly like she's selling out the biggest venues anymore. One should remember that Carolas first album is the most selling album of all time in Sweden (Take That ABBA and Queen). A successful Mello participation could give her career a new push. One thing to remember with Carola though is that she's a perfectionist so she either needs a winning song or a song and narrative that could make her beloved by the Swedish public again.
1984 Herreys - Semi-retired but not impossible
1985 Kikki Danielsson - Claimed 2018 would be her last appearance
1986 Lasse Holm & Monica Törnell - Törnell's got dementia. Holm retired and is now a producer working for a competing tv-channel
1987 Lotta Engberg - Not impossible but is now a succesful presenter/producer.
1988 Tommy Körberg - See above
1989 Tommy Nilsson - Has a newborn baby, likely to wait a few years

1992 Christer Björkman - Retired, now a producer

1994 Roger Pontare & Marie Bergman - Roger, see below. Marie is not particularly interested and niether is SVT.
1995 Jan Johansen - Has been rejected by SVT a number of times.
1996 One More Time - Will likely come back soon, sent in 3 songs the last two years and a new album is ready to be released. SVT holds out for a more competetive song
1997 Blond - Disbanded and unpopular
1998 Jill Johnson - In Nashville
1999 Charlotte Nilsson - Returning in 2-3 years
2000 Roger Pontare - Roger Pontare sends in songs regularly, SVT doesn't want to select him without a competetive song.

Modern Melfest

2005 Martin Stenmarck - Could come back
2006 Carola - See above
2007 The Ark - Not interested

2011 Eric Saade - Will be back at some point
2012 Loreen - If she's arsed
2013 Robin Stjernberg - Got depressed, fat again and retired. Now mostly a writer/producer. Made a kind of comeback with Jill 2 years ago and then released 'Pretty' last year

2015 Måns Zelmerlöw - Likely to be back at some point, needs a Eurovision winning song to take part
2016 Frans - Got depressed and retired. Has recently started performing again
2017 Robin Bengtsson - Will be back at some point
2018 Benjamin Ingrosso - One of Sweden's biggest artists atm. Will not be back until his career looses momentum
2019 John Lundvik - Will be back at some point
2020 The Mamas - Will likely be back at some point
2021 Tusse - Will be back at some point
