If I were the lesbian in charge I’m trying to decide whether I’d put four songs that were clearly total duds in Heat 5 in an effort to prove that the songs from Heat 5 wouldn’t automatically from AC…

OR three absolutely indisputable bangers so nobody will argue whether the 3rd placer deserves a spot in the final.

I know which one is easier in the contest’s current state…

To be honest it does sound better than having 4 out of 6 six songs advancing from each week... But of course my favorite option would be to revert back to the way it was until 2021: 7 songs each week, an Andra chansen and NO reveal of the votes whatsoever until the final :eyes:

2020: Méndez ft. Alvaro Estrella - Vamos amigos
2021: Paul Rey - The Missing Piece
2022: Lisa Miskovsky - Best To Come
2023: Victor Crone - Diamonds
2024: Annika Wickihalder - Light

Half of them never reached the final IRL :D
 
Yeah, they've really overly fucked with a formula that didn't particularly need fucking with. It's been fine because, as a rule, the best few songs each year have consistently remained fantastic and usually been the cream that's continued rising to the top, but it does make the rest feel that bit less satisfying.
 
Have we had any HOT INSTAGRAM UPDATES from Jimmy Joker's studio and the like from previous MELLO HITMAKERS/TITSHAKERS?

That’s not quite how they work it out, so the actual line-up would have been a bit different. In 2023 it would have been Theoz for example.

Fair point; I'd got confused halfway through the article when it referred to four qualifiers facing another vote, and forgot we were now in a world of five semis.
 
Doesn't the automatic highest vote qualifier thing mean that the first and final heats have a better chance PLUS, it's not comparing APPLES for APPLES if there is, for example, a big snowstorm and so everyone stays in on one night?

It’s the highest votes as a proportion of the total votes cast that night.

Funny you say that because it took quite a lot NOT to bust out with this this morning when a motorbike sped past us at 70mph, and I explained to my son about speeding and speed limits.

"Call the POLICE" was his (very right) response. The intonation was there and everything :disco:

The latest rumour is Victor Leksell.

He showed interest in Melodifestivalen after his shortlived Idol 2017 run, even submitting songs that were rejected by SVT. His big break came in 2020, when he rejuvenated the vispop genre with his megahit "Svag," which has been the most-streamed song in Sweden, ever.


Lyckligt slut and För dig were direct attempts by SVT to find songs and artists in a similar mould. Even though he opted out of entering the competition after Svag went viral, he has stayed in contact with the Melodifestivalen production team over the years, is good friends with many of the younger Melodifestivalen stars and starred in Björnzone as recently as this year.



In contrast to some maybe old artists, Victor has continued to churn out hits with no fewer than 24 top tens and 6 number ones over the span of 4-5 years.

His new duet with Molly Sandén is currently number one on Spotify Sweden.



Some believe he's "too big for Melodifestivalen," but he could actually be "too big to fail" in Mello. If he were to enter, he would become the most high-profile debutant in Melodifestivalen history.
