Moaning Monday (1 Viewer)

I'm tempted to take the rest of the week off on HIGHLY SPURIOUS GROUNDS just because my boss is insisting I go to some SOFTWARE TRAINING SESSION to use something I've ALREADY BEEN USING FOR THREE YEARS and PLAYED A LARGE PART IN DEVELOPING just so I can LISTEN to the SELF-APPOINTED OFFICE EXPERTS explain it to me PATRONIZINGLY

Honestly I thought that VIRTUALLY KILLING MYSELF over the last five years to get enough CASH to be able to tell the whole thing to CUNT OFF whenever I want would make me feel better but in some ways it's WORSE!

I'm with you. I quite like being cosy at home and the fact that everyone leaves me alone during the darker/colder months but the second I see a drop of rain I don't want to go anywhere.

I received a very expensive umbrella for my 30th birthday a couple of years ago and managed to leave it on the train too, which pissed me off to no end but then I had an existential crisis as I began to question why I decided to request an expensive umbrella as a 30th birthday gift?
Ooh what was the umbrella like? I'm always looking for a good one. Sorry for your loss.

Yeah I'm not at all fussed when it's cold and crisp, I spent a winter in the Alps and that was amazing. I need to find a way abandon Manchester from Nov-Mar.

I left Manc circa 2019. I do still enjoy visiting the city but I don't think I've experienced anywhere rainier I must say.

Weren't you sunning it up abroad for many years? I am guessing you've since moved back in my long-winded absence.

Hahaha, thank you! It was deffo like a £50 umbrella. My mum bought it for me because I just complained so much about the rain so I said "RIGHT if you want to buy me something MEMORABLE and PRACTICAL for my birthday get me an umbrella... the best you can find!"

(I did just google umbrella's and bizarrely you can actually buy some for in the region of £1000+, so I guess mine isn't actually so expensive, but whatever you can also get them for £4 so lets just call it mid-range and accept.)

ANYWAY, it was clear and not particularly compact. It had the classic curved wooden handle. Quite big, easily enough to fit two people under. I liked how it was clear too as it didn't obstruct my entire vision. Black umbrellas are chic but sometimes I like to see what's going on ABOVE.

Oh I used to have a birdcage style umbrella, it was rainbow patterned. Cost about £10 and was THE BEST umbrella I've ever had. No amount of wind could collapse it and each panel was a different colour but sea through plastic so I could look at the world in different colours.

I lost it last year and I've never found one I like as much.

I bought a cheapy one from Primark last week and it was utterly shit in Bruges so I ditched it. Now I'm umbrella-less again :(

You and me both! Nothing worse than having a screaming battle with an umbrella in broad daylight. Unfortunately I'm office bound on Wednesday so to take the edge off the fact I'll be spending an entire day with a group of people I feel absolutely indifferent towards I may treat myself to a new umbrella.

Let me know what you get, I may have to start asking for umbrella recommendations from people!

Yep, we came back for one summer in 2019 and got stuck here. I do love it, bar the winter, I couldn't live anywhere else in the UK.

It's probably my favourite city for food choices. I recently tried a South African restaurant up near Oldham St (might even be on it) and it was absolutely delicious.

My brother and his wife are potentially moving to Manchester and getting their rent paid by some Chinese megacompany. I can't wait to have a place to stay in Manc.

Wfh Mondays.

I really do prefer working in the office in so much as I get more done and have a chat but I do like this little view from home.

It's gone rather GLOOMY here, so I've done a shit ton of house work and pulled out the smoked cheese, crackers and chutney.

Well my trapped nerve pain has heavily reduced, but my thigh is still is still numb. I've been doing stretches and realising getting to the age I am, I shouldn't have ignored all advice to do stretches. The pain in simple manoeuvres is quite surprising!

I've just made some vegetable soup, loads of veg, an veg stock cube, and blitzed it. It tastes of absolutely nothing. I'm hoping it's just my covid taste buds.

It will be but that must be really annoying.

Well this could be where I messed up, I forgot to season until the very end :( then I used garlic, salt and mixed herbs.
Oh no I always season at the end. I'd happily add everything you mentioned. I've found a few chilli flakes can really enhance flavour, without blowing your mouth out.

Probably covid then. My first drink after covid the wine tasted like water.

Oh I have chilli flakes! I'll add some. I think the two bags of veg I added had carrots, plus onion, leek, suede, potato. All the usual. I'll get Mandy to taste it.

The PRICE of that repulsive Austrian smoked cheese in a SAUSAGE has almost DOUBLED recently.

THAT
IS
A
DISGRACE

WHY ELSE DID YOU THINK THE PACKAGING WAS THAT AWFUL SHADE OF BROWN?

I really tried to like fish but I just can't. I can just about tolerate battered cod. I used to love tuna but can't even handle that now. But I know how good fish is for you :(
