Because not everything fits into running.

I'm two days into my 700km in September challenge. Will be about 37km done as of this evening. Feet aren't too bad but shorts have hurt my thighs which isn't fun.

Not running, so is this walking 700km in September? That is a challenge. How do you manage to incorporate that into your day?

The plan is to bits and pieces of running added in, but predominantly walking and hiking.

It's about 10km to work and 10km back so I'm just walking my commute and adding on a bit to make the 23km a day mark. I'll do parts of it running when I feel up to it, and use the weekends for more varied routes and hikes, as well as to make up kms if I need to.

I’m doing around 4.8 KM walking a day right now plus daily gardening work while will last until around mid-October or so.

My fitness is as good as its been for a long time, I think I need some sort of challenge to abandon midway through

I get people to donate to a charity for it. It looks to be a bit less this time than last December but I force myself to commit for the whole time if any amount of money has been spent.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for charity fundraising, but I've got enough self imposed stresses without worrying about letting everyone down in yet ANOTHER way.

I set myself a random challenge as of this morning of being able to do 100 pressups.

On days I’m not at the gym, I’m doing 10 pressups on the minute with the aim of getting to the total.

Got to 69 (nice) this morning which considering I did arms and shoulders yesterday isn’t terrible.

STAND BY FOR UPDATES.

My walking in August was somewhat down on July. I averaged 15.74km daily in July, and in August it was 13km exactly.

I did purposely challenge myself to walk a lot more in July though - August I decided to still walk more, but focus on walking at a better speed to get the heart rate up, rather than on total distance.

My weight hasn't changed really over the last month or so - it's hovering just below 13st, but I'm pleased with that. That feels like a good target to keep the right side of psychologically, and my BMI remains in normal while I'm there.

I have also started doing a lot of resistance band work as well the last couple of weeks, but that's more about trying to tone up and gain strength rather than lose weight.

AND I guess the most important thing of all is that my blood pressure has reduced significantly over this period. I was in hypertensive crisis at the end of March when I was at the heart institute, but since my last review a few weeks ago I'm averaging 139/89, which is still higher than ideal, and assisted by medication, but I'm convinced it's also helped not insignificantly by the changes to diet and exercise I've made.

NOT DEAD YET :disco:
