Moopy Notifications on Every Thread (1 Viewer)

Just to let everyone know, we are having a minor issue in the background around email notifications. If we're running a big event that requires PMing (e.g. the Moopy pub quiz from the other day) the server sends too many emails and our host shouts at me.

Whilst we see if we can figure out a more elegant solution, I've had to force everyone's preferences to disable email notifications. However, it seems to have had the unintended effect of also enabling watching threads automatically.

You can disable this easily enough, by going to your preferences and unticking the "automatically watch content" options. You may also need to unwatch threads that have already given a notification today.

PLEASE DO NOT ENABLE ANY EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS AT THIS TIME

An alternative if you use email notifications a lot is to give push notifications a shot, which are also available on that page.

I may need to play with these settings more which could reset them again. I'll let you know if that happens.

Yeah it is fine for now.

My current thinking is to let people who want emails to turn them back on, and just make sure that if there is any major thing happening requiring tons of PMs quickly, like Mafia, the participants turn them off again. I confirmed with the host that other than the Christmas Quiz, we haven't bothered our limits before. And making them opt in rather than opt out should cut down a lot of emails anyway.

I managed to work out that the way to resolve this was to go into Preferences even before @ZenGiraffe had posted the solution. Groundbreaking

Oh I was planning on figuring out how to disable email notifications anyway as I received about 100 from the moopy quiz night We don’t need them anyway do we? We get message notifications as soon as we log in to moopy

Okay but is there a way to stop it watching every thread you reply to and thus giving you a notification on here anytime someone replies?

Because it IS quite annoying...

Edit: managed to switch them off at least for myself

Because it IS quite annoying...

Untick the boxes in the screenshot and that stops it for all future threads. You'll need to unfollow the individual threads that have already been watched in the interim.
